Internet forums are disappearing because now it's all Reddit and Discord. And that is worrying

You can't have the kind of in-depth discussions on Discord like you can on reddit. It's more akin to a AOL chat room than a message board.

You can't do "share old Black Hollywood stories" on Discord. I remember back on Okayplayer there was a multi thread discussion on EVERY Prince album even the damn spinoffs like The Family. It was a DEEP discussion from dedicated fans that knew their shyt. Imagine doing that on Discord? LOL

Reddit is a little better but too cacish and too many braindead normies.

Discord is a cesspool for pdfs and the dregs of the internet. Can't trust spaces that are self regulated.
Youll fukk around and get caught in a RICO for CP, stay out that shyt.

but on the other hand..
Reddit is too sensitive when it comes to certain groups. I hope somebody buys it like X

A little surprised that so many have said they wouldn't join another forum if this one shut down for good

though... I kind of understand.

But anyway it reminded me of this thread, which at the time reminded me of something I read a long time ago:

Where else on hte net will you find people that are undoubtedly black, and will discuss our issues at hand?

I heard Reddit had good information, but when I went there it was like being in a maga gated community.
Thecoli needs to migrate, but sharing space with such people isnt wise.
It really depends on the sub. Most of reddit if you read the posts will tell you it's overwhelmingly left leaning. I don't think it's that way, but it's definitely not as right coded as Youtube/Twitter.

That said it does really still tend to be about what type of subs you're on and how the commentors lean. I feel it's not as good for tech questions and shyt like Stack Overflow. But, I do find a good bit of shyt from Reddit across my interest. Discord I only used based on people I follow or links I see in spots like here that interest me.

Knowing how Whites and their disciples get down, it doesn't matter what sub you're on.

Sure, if you're asking how to fix the WiFi app on Windows 11 you'll get good responses..but anything that involves Black peoples History to current affairs will get attacked or dismissed.

It's a fukking White echo chamber.

:jbhmm:I see your point. It's like if you are looking for anything political that is harming black people, you won't find it on Reddit like you would on The Coli. There were a lot of black news stories that I could find here that I could not find on Reddit, even in the subs that are left-leaning. By that, I mean subs that have a lot of white liberals on them. It's like if it's not something they care about, then you won't find it on the left politics sub, and the white left don't really concern themselves like that on Reddit with what's going on in the black community.

That is a good question (that I don't have an answer to 😅)
Discord is a live chat and I feel, specially in the bigger groups theres never really any conversation, just hundreds of people writting at the same time, its fukking terrible.

Reddit's format fukking sucks.
Yeah, Discord doesn't seem in any way comparable to the format of a forum to me; neither Discord nor Reddit's structures seem particularly conducive to discussion
