Internet Forums are the only place where I see Swizz Beatz being classified as a mediocre producer

sorry for taking part in the derailment of the thread yall.
@DMGAINGREEN

since we're talking about lists, i'd probably put swizz in my top 20 rap producers.

and i rank him higher than a lot of the names being mentioned in here when it comes to hip-hop beats. higher than the neptunes, Kanye & timbaland.

:salute:

if we're talking strictly hip hop I can definitely see him being above neptunes and timbaland
like somebody mentioned before, a lot of the cats doing the hating weren't around when he was at his peak
that being said, if I see he produced a track on a project I'm definitely anticipating it

when he's off he's really off, but when he's on he makes legit bangers, no ifs, ands, or buts about it

nikka is super simple and he uses garbage sounds, he is basically mannie fresh and its clear he doesnt respect music with all those cheap ass sounds

its the equivalent of me producing a HD porno but only fukking 20$ crackwhores
yeah I can fukk them good and its good quality but the girls in it are garbage

if you respect the game you would put together a respectable project

but hip hop is the art of making something from nothing :troll:

nah, in all seriousness it's part of hip hop's aesthetic, DNA even to make due with what you have. it's quite literally a large part of how the culture started because they were taking music programs and instruments out of schools back then :yeshrug:

if the nikka didn't have the record knowledge of a Premier or Pete Rock and still managed to make shyt that sounded good to people more power to him.

I honestly think it's bullshyt to compare him to Metro Boomin or any of these other trap producers(not saying you did) because Swizz' overall production discography speaks for itself. them nikkas have a WAYYYYYYYS to go before you can even throw them in the same category as him

nah its the fact that he has 100 million and still uses a 100$ keyboard ... thats not making due with "what you have"
thats disrespectful to make fans buy and listen to when your resources are way beyond that. The dude knows how to make a good beat, he just does it as cheaply ass possible and disregards music or fans in general

listen to that wack ass game song - "scream on em" :russ:

Nah, Swizz levels below Timbaland and The Neptunes. Both have more legendary Hip Hop productions than Swizz Beatz. "Superthug" and "Banned From T.V." exist on the same album, and "Superthug" made much more of an impact than "Banned". That's taking nothing away from "Banned From T.V.", but "Superthug" was next level. N.O.R.E. didn't even have to say anything on that beat. Same goes for what Timbaland did with "nikka What nikka Who" which again stands alongside another one of Swizz's best, but that beat again threw people for a loop. It was a beat that people didn't know what do with, but were :dj2:at the same time. And that's just for starters. That's not getting into "Grindin" or "Big Pimpin'".

Swizz is underrated and gets more hate than he deserves. He's a legend in his own right, but he ain't seeing those two on his best day.

HE JUS HAD THE RIGHT PEOPLE AROUND HIM .. THOSE STREET BANGERS ENDED UP BEIN COMMERCIAL ANTHEMS. U CAN FIND COUNTLESS PRODUCTIONS BY UNKNOWN PRODUCERS ON YOUTUBE THAT BANG HARDER THAN SWIZZ SHIIT, THEY JUS DONT HAVE THE LUXURY OF DMX SPITTIN ON THEY SHIIT. THEREIN LIES THE DIFFERENCE.

youre just making up excuses & running with them breh.

swizz did 1 beat on DMX 1st album and it was the most popular beat on the whole LP.

and dame grease is a great producer, btw.

Yes, they were more impactful than those Swizz joints. Timbo, The Neptunes, and Swizz are all commercial producers. Commercial =/= Poppy. They were commercial because they all ended up being go to producers for hit singles (whether it targeted the clubs or the streets, or both). All three had their street joints, but they also had joints that were more commercial. "Love Is Blind", "Gotta Man", and "Girls Best Friend" are softer than most of what Timbo and The Neptunes were putting out at the time.

Those songs did have a bigger impact than what Swizz was doing at the time. And those aren't the only ones. "Superthug" gave The Neptunes their credibility, not "Grindin". Before "Superthug", they just had the Mase joint ("Lookin' At Me"), a Lox remix ("If You Thing I'm Jiggy"), and some R&B records. After "Superthug", they were lacing everybody from ODB to Jay Z to Mystikal to Luda. "Grindin" was the beat that had everybody imitating the beat on school desks and lunchroom tables everywhere. It was also one of those beats that everybody wanted to freestyle on.

Same goes for Timbaland. He was doing joints for Lil' Kim ("Money Talks"), Beanie Sigel ("In The Club"), Memphis Bleek ("Is That Your Chick"), Jay Z ("Come And Get Me", "nikka What nikka Who", "It's Hot").

wheres all the shut-down dj quik beats?

that's what it comes down to.

where they at?

lol. no they weren't as impactful as swizz beatz. youre playing yourself.

timbaland barely has any street bangers in his 20 year career. neptunes didn't get any until the clipse.

"love is blind" is not soft. that's a serious ass song breh. you had to dig deep for those other 2 tracks that aren't signature swizz productions at all. meanwhile, those type of beats are indeed signature productions for the neptunes & timbaland. see the difference?

superthug, that mase song, the LOX song that they still get clowned for to this day. all that chit is commercial candy breh. the goofy ODB record, jay only went to neptunes & timbo for radio chit. that should tell you it all. Ludacris? lol. the mystikal run where mystikal alienated his core audience? COME ON BREH. theres a clear difference between the type of impact that these producers have. you can try to focus on the few soft swizz beats from back then, and the few timbo & neptunes street bangers from back then all you want.

You ever heard this album?? He's no Kanye nor is he an Alchemist, Rza, or a Pete Rock because atleast they can make a solo album thats worth listening to.

Damn forgot about this, was solid. Loved the artwork, I bought this when i was like 14/15 because of the cover.

Yes, they were more impactful. That's almost undeniable. "Superthug" pretty much made N.O.R.E.'s solo career. "nikka What nikka Who" had people clamoring for their producers to make beats like that. The Neptunes and Timbaland aren't some run of the mill Hip Hop producers.

"Love is Blind" as a beat is soft. You don't have to dig deep for "Gotta Man" or "Girl's Best Friend". Both came out during Swizz's prime. They are well known.

In regard to Jay, you could say he went to Swizz for the same thing. I mean, there's the Swizzy produced track on Vol. 3 that features Mariah Carey.

The Lox don't get clowned for the remix, they get clowned for the original. The Neptunes remix of that song is far harder than the version that most people know and loathe. "Got Your Money" isn't the only ODB song produced by The Neptunes. They had other songs on that album.

LOL at Jay Z only going to The Neptunes for radio songs. Aside from "Big Pimpin", the rest of the Timbo productions on Vol. 3 are street records.
