The difference between Android and Apple where Android constantly innovates to try to compete with each other (Samsung, Motorola etc), Apple keeps it simple by taking what works and just makes it better. Android makes gimmicky features that looks cool in commercials but end up fading away a year or two later.

While Apple focuses on its on devices when marketing to consumers, Android goes out of its way to make commercials specifically about Apple after they launch a new product.

I have no problem using handbrake to convert videos for play mobile. MP4 ia really the best format anyways. All mobile players plays them well. No so much for divx and mkv

meanwhile Android users can just toss the raw MKV video on their phones no conversion needed and play it.

Weekend iPhone sales top 10 million

Apple says weekend sales of its new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones topped 10 million, a new internal record.

The company did not detail how much of the 10 million were attributed to the iPhone 6 Plus versus the iPhone 6, but Apple CEO Tim Cook says the launch shattered the previous sales record of 9 million held by last year's release of the iPhone 5s and 5c.

"Sales for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus exceeded our expectations for the launch weekend, and we couldn't be happier," said Cook in a statement Monday.

The 10 million milestone doesn't include one of the largest smartphone markets: China. A report earlier this month from The New York Times says Apple had to delay launching in China, potentially because the devices await government approval.

The new iPhones welcome larger screens to the mix, with the iPhone 6 featuring a 4.7-inch screen and the iPhone 6 Plus featuring a 5.5-inch display.

Based on pre-order shipment dates, it appears the 6 Plus has been more popular among consumers. According to several wireless carrier sites, wait times for iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders stretch from one to two months.

Android handset manufactures innovate. A lot of the features you call gimmicks aren't a part of Android they're something Samsung or HTC came up with like having an IR blaster on the phone isn't an Android requirement but HTC and Samsung added them in anyway.

Apple controls everything about the iPhone from the OS to the manufacturing of the handsets. Android partners have the freedom to add to the hardware, the freedom to add to the OS with their own skins that have extra features. Samsung isn't just competing with Apple they're competing with HTC and Motorola too. The reason Android has become more innovative than iOS is because there's multiple companies in the same space competing against both each other and against rival platforms. When an Android user is up for a new phone they could go Motorola, LG, Samsung, HTC and so on so they're all pushing the tech to get that dollar. when an iOS user is up for a new phone there's only one real choice if they want to remain with iOS. the Apple phone.

by your logic (and zero knowledge of photography), all photographers should skip the canon and just get the phone because it has almost twice the MEGAPIXELS, which obviously means better pictures. same reason a 13 megapixel samsung camera OBVIOUSLY takes better pictures than a iphone camera with "only" 8 megapixels

One of them being the fact that when you take a picture you can zoom in and crop it without losing any detail. So you could stand far away from something, take a shot, and then zoom in and crop it to get your final image that would still be a decent resolution. With an 8 MP camera, you can't really do that because you start to lose detail as you zoom into the shot.

But why, then, do the top-end DSLRs pack massive pixel counts? Because pro photographers are using them for pro settings: magazines, billboards, television. But the naked eye can't tell the difference between 8MP and 100MP if you're printing on anything smaller than legal pad-size, or posting to your Facebook wall, or sending as an email attachment.

megapixel counts on smart phones are just another example of dumbass spec-comparison pissing contests that people who have no idea of how photography works have.

most people are using their phone cameras for instagram, snapchat, food pics, sending dikk pics etc..
and iphone pictures are the most uploaded pics on flickr... more than even DSLRs.

I swear Apple users are some sheep. iPhone's are garbage. This coming from someone who used them religiously until the iPhone 4. I broke my shyt, and my boy gave me this connect for the Galaxy S2.

I play anime episodes in 720p MKV format with stylized subs on the Galaxy S5 all the time and there are no sync issues. I use MX Player.
