Haven't watched the video yet but I can see them having options of doing a bundle with the iPhone + service rolled into a monthly fee. Like $XX for iPhone and apple music or apple tv etc.

Personally, I pay for my phone upfront and hold on to it as long as possible and don't do subscriptions unless there some sort of deal/ one time payment. All those subscriptions eat away at your check quietly.

For those who are fine with paying monthly and always want the latest phone will be all over this.

I'm going in a somewhat different direction with this.

I think this may be a tune up to Apple rolling out its own network service.

Everything will be thru apple. Paying for the phone, and the services it provides.

So, instead of having an IPhone using Verizon, or ATT as a service provider, you'll be using an IPhone, while using whatever Apple is going to call their Satellite service.

Imo

Verizon and T-Mobile would tax the fukk out of Apple to use their service towers making it unlikely to be lucrative for the service itself. Normally I’d say that the ecosystem gained from it would be the big benefit in doing that but Apple already has the ecosystem locked in so until they get their OWN towers, it wouldn’t be beneficial for them.

You’re absolutely correct. nikkas just wanna be obtuse though and make dumb threads.

Incorrect, but understandable. This is for those who've fully paid for their device and want to service, upgrade, or replace components on it.

They can't without Apple's permission even though they 'own' the device.

If this measure goes through, those same people will have to continue paying for a device, not a service, they already paid for.

Everything on payments. Its wild how companies pushing people towards that. This is especially wild considering these days a good modern phone can last you years. You don't need yearly upgrades or even every other year if we are being honest. Back in those old days? Sure, but the phones are much better and last longer now.

At this point I just let my employer buy me a new phone every 18 months instead of upgrading in between. Why bother spending my own money for some minor upgrade :camby:

I mean you got to look it at like this. Most people have the most fukked up credit imaginable and this ordeal allows companies to squeeze every dime out of a customer. The whole pay once and that's it was good a moon or so ago, but we are in a era where it seems impossible to cop the most basic shyt without a monthly plan. While the concept of subscriptions and payment plans are obnoxious as all fukk, this is like the corporation epitome of crack hitting the streets, except the fiends want material and will not lose teeth or weight in the process:ehh:

They will have their own satellites to provide the services. It will completely by pass traditional cell towers.

It was supposed to be secret, but it "leaked" in 2020.

Apple has already been forced with Right to Repair so you can service your iPhone without their permission even more so now.

Yeah I forgot about the satellite service plan. It’ll just be them and Tesla competing with each other for satellite service.
