Them white boys just want something to gripe about. They ain't have nothing to say when Reed Richards and the Fantastic 4 broke asses had to do crime by breaking into a space station to test Reeds rocket ship. They ain't have anything to say about Doc Brown dealing and stealing with Libyan terrorists. They don't have anything to say about Dr. Frankenstein committing crime for his experiments. The "anything for science" and the "Genius without funding" tropes are common in science fiction/fantasy genres. White boys and white adjacent folk are upset because a black woman is at the center of this story. They so use to white washing everything they have lost their sense of reality

because those are exceptions and there are many counter-examples of gringos being non crims.

riri is a first lead. and is juxtaposed with a yt billionaire ...

i.e. proportion :hubie:

You know it's bad when white reviewers are saying why does riri have to be poor and do crime. At the end of the day we just want a GOOD STORY. i feel sorry for the actress who has to work with this.

As long as people are going to watch it's going to continue happening. And before people come for me for the oh she's black blabla fukk off.

It's like marvel forgot how to do character development and expects most of its viewers to accept it. Same shyt happened in BP2, shuri just became BP2 and was immediately OP it made no sense to me.

DC have been waiting for this for years but seems like the will have their moment to shine.
This is the only change I don't like. She's from the hood, poor, but she's resourceful. In the comics, she made money by selling her patents...similar to how Reed ended up getting the F4 out of poverty. But she was still poor, because she used it for supplies. She really has no interest in money.

Nah. Spider-Man is the poorest of them all. Daredevil is poor. Jessica Jones. Matter of fact, outside of Rand, all of the street level heroes are poor, or paycheck to paycheck at best. Punisher is the other exception, because he robs stash houses. Most of the X-Men are poor. There are far more poor than wealthy.

Even in this show, it doesn't show her being Spidey levels of broke, she just can't afford to maintain her tinkering. Like @Rhapscallion Démone pointed out, "genius without funding" is a common trope for the genre. Hell, Flynn was broke in Tron. The plot was his breaking into ENCOM to steal evidence that they stole all of the games from him.

I will say the quiet part out loud...

A lot more people would like Riri if she was prettier and more charismatic.

Writers sort of put her in a tough spot, but I will say its an interesting one. This is like if Ant Man got the suit and started hustling before being a good guy. I think that had such heavy focus on his daughter that it was made a bit more endearing. However, again I do appreciate something different. She's just trying to get bread.

Now one of those anti-woke YouTube channels spoiled something on twitter for me. So its going to be interesting how people view her after the fall out. Cause according to them there isn't a redemption. And MyTimetoShineHello said the ending was ballsy. So we'll see.

But yeaaaa even with the pacing problems, etc ...if she was finer & elevated the material if might be a lil bit different. The current actress is good enough for me tho.

You can spoil it for me…. I’m not watching this

Mephisto appears as the second villain in the final episode

Yes and let's say how it is that perspective is totally different from a poor black girl from the hood doing crime to finish her work. All they had to do was stick to the source material.

And it bothers me that someone in the writers room was like "let's make her poor, from the hood en she does crime to complete her work". And no one was like why does she have to do crime? Can't she just do what she does in the comic...?

Serious questions.

Are these characters they are trying to push even popular?

I aint even tyring to hate as an "old head" because I was already out of college when Miles Morales was created, and i know he is popular. But Ironheart, is she popular or are they just trying to push some shyt on people?

James Gunn was 100% right when he said Marvel fell off and will stay in the dumps as long as they are trying to just push shyt out to hit numbers for investors.

Just started watching. I didn’t know anything about the show going into it.

You got the star of the show carrying herself like a nygga. You got a nygga dressed like a bytch. You got some butch white bytches beating nyggas up. You got every weirdo you can think of in that crew. You can’t make this shyt up.
:dead:

I'm like 8 minutes in and I already noticed they crowbarred a stud and a flaming homosexual into the criminal crew :mjlol:

I like it so far.

I see what people are saying about her hustling to get bread but how is anything she doing anywhere near as harmful as what Tony was doing before he had his revelation? She's hitting similar beats on a street level scale and that's kinda the point.

I like the camera work , the music too, I keep thinking this is the team I'd like to have on a Luke Cage continuation project. Worst thing about this is cacs and spoiled ass fans, many of them in here being insufferably spoiled and entitled.
