Withholding tables were changed to front load more income into paychecks

For most people if they do the math with tax liability and the extra cash every month they had a net positive 2018 over 2017

Unfortunately most people who look at their refunds as free money as opposed to a 0 percent interest loan arent sophisticated enough to understand their refund was basically spread throughout their year

Thus they are unhappy they netted 3000 in actual refund instead of the 4000 from last year but in reality their real refund was 5000 but the delta of 1000 was put into their paychecks instead of being withheld

his tax cuts raised my highest tax rate, fukked my deductions for high ass CA state taxes, fukked my mortgage interest and property tax deduction not accounting for high ass housing costs in CA, only thing going for me is a quit my job in july so i was overtaxed for the first half of the year.

we are fukked in cali anyway for taxes.

having no dependents and being single and making 6 figure salary Im getting taken to cleaners by taxes wouldnt be surprised when taking rent into account I can make way more after taxes somewhere in Austin or Raleigh doing same tech stuff

I can't stress the importance of having a basic understanding of taxes. People are going to be in for a shock because the withholding tables changed, you might of been taking home more but in a lot of cases that is also your tax refund money

A lot of them do realize what he's doing but they rationalize it by saying maybe the high tax States will finally do something about how much they're paying in local taxes
