Got 5 w2’s coming in and they all haven’t landed yet. 2018 was rough on job stability but I think I found a gig I finally like as long as the company keeps its promise after my probationary period.

I'm not expecting that much like I did last year. Maybe $800 or so. I don't know if it's worth it to go see my accountant. Dude got me like $2,200 last year but I was doing a lot of gig work before I started full time so he was able to work some magic to bump up my refund.

I'm in finance and I still let the gov hold my money until tax time.
Plus I write off a lot of losses on property I own and get child care and other write offs, so even taking withholdings on my W2 i still get like 5k+ back every year. I wait until march or april to file and use the refund to do spring house projects, or pay for summer vacation.

It works for me.:yeshrug: I treat it like a savings account I can't cheat on. The bank isn't paying any substantial interest anyway. I have an account with 8k in it and earned about $1 in interest .:mjcry:

Did Turbo Tax tonight, looking at around $1.6k. At $170 to file online, I'll just check out my CPA guy. He charges me $200 but he'll get me at least $600 more than Turbo-Tax. I'm gonna lump that my return straight to my savings.

Breh I have so many side businesses and tax shelters. Plus I itemize when I so my taxes. So I go to my accountant and get it done.

In the end I just do mine at the end of march just in case I have to pay. My dude been doing my taxes so long I can kinda of look at my write owes and what I made overall to tell if I owe or not.

But times know for sure I don't have to pay I may wait till September to file. Cause you only have to file or file early if YOU OWE uncle sam.

You’re better off transferring those funds to an acorn account.

She can just siphon 1250/month to a savings account directly out of her check and earn a couple percent on it minimum, risk free, rather than letting the feds have it for a year. You are dumb as fukk if you let someone hold 15k for you for months and just give it back without interest. Imagine going every month check to check, fighting off bills/debt more than 1k light of what your cash flow is supposed To be every single month :dead: probably thinks she’s hustling the feds when she gets that big refund meanwhile they laughing straight to the bank earning off her own money
yeah i dont argue with people over their preferences, but anyone thinking they're "winning" because they got a big return is a fukkin idiot. you need to adjust your checks to get a bigger checks and a smaller refund

My husband claims the kids because he makes less than I do so normally he files first and I file in April and pay mine with his refund.
So yall were advised to file separately? My wife and i have 2 kids. Last year she made between 20 and 30k and i made over 100k. Should she file separately and claim the kids?
