So yall were advised to file separately? My wife and i have 2 kids. Last year she made between 20 and 30k and i made over 100k. Should she file separately and claim the kids?
I think you should file both ways using an online service and see which Returns the best results for you.

Man im kinda mad..i thought i would be getting at least $2k+ back this year because im filing my son for the first time. But im not. I made like 47k last year but they only took out about 3k for federal( because i was switching my dependent s for a lil) it said ill only get back around $1500 for fed and nothing back for state. Im thankful im at least getting that back instead of owing like last year..

but i was hoping for more because i finally get to claim a kid. But this year im not fukking with the dependants im claiming 0 the entire year so i could get a lil more back next year.

Are there any loopholes or deductibles i can put on there to boost my shyt up a lil:feedme: i file my own taxes instead of giving them people 2 to 300 to file, so i dont know if theres anything else i can do to finessse a couple more hundred up out em.

Do you have a home with a mortgage? You should be writing off your real estate taxes and mortgage interest. Other things you can write off are donations (church, Goodwill, etc). They used to let you write off a lot of things like business expenses, energy efficient improvements to your home but most of those went away with the new law :francis:

Did a tax refund estimate calculator to try and ballpark what I'd get back. Had me like :leon:

Started the refund process on Taxslayer and was like :what:

I almost don't see the point of it. I'm assuming I'll owe state taxes after that shyt :gucci: :beli:

This shyt is so stressful. I made 22k from self employment, and my wife made 10k from her job
I have a w2 from school and we have 1 child. I heard that with self employment i can claim a self employment credit that would essentially adj my income from my self to about half, anybody with their own business, can you help me?

That’s why we do it but don’t get audited on my behalf. My husband files head of household not married separate. And no I was advised to file together, the refund is lower.
