But on the flip side, people who came to watch Irv who aren’t familiar with Robert Smith and his ilk, will now be aware of him and others. Nothing wrong with cross pollinating your audience.
The point is the podcast has branded itself as a "finance/business" podcast therefore conversations and topics on the podcast should reflect the mission statement of the podcast and its subject matter. Robert Smith is just an example because he is the wealthiest Black person in the US , and it is even more valuable to introduce this person to those who do not even know him and have him share his path toward financial success because he is operating in a world that 95+% of Americans don't know about let alone Black people but that's beside the point.
Earn your leisure is a business and finance podcast, they can have anybody of more or less notoriety than Smith but as long as conversations is about business and finance like these guys have marketed themselves and are getting on platforms such as Bloomberg because of their finance/business podcast so "cross pollination" is irrelevant. If people want some hood/ghetto war stories, there is plenty of content for that (i.e Drink Champs MDWG etc...).
If Irv came on there to talk about the business of rap and entertainment, then it would not be a problem that's why I am saying the person who is on the podcast is irrelevant whether it be Robert Smith, Irv Gotti, some random guy or gal who runs the most successful lemonade stand in history. The most important part is the subject matter and content of the conversation which is business/finance. Your audience can get the hood BS somewhere else, you have marketed yourself as a business/finance podcast, and it has opened doors because of it so stick to that. That's my point instead of making some "hood authenticity" play. it ain't it.
