NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Irv said that Murda Inc had lost the streets and that street nikkas worshipped Nas so i’m guessing the strategy was give him 1-2 mainstream singles and keep the rest of the album gutter.

Nas went on to directly diss that strategy on Gods Son so that could be another reason he ultimately decided not to fukk with the Irv & them. Irv probably wouldn’t have wanted to push something like Made You Look which is ironic considering he’s called that the most perfect Hip Hop song of all time
Irv would’ve prolly told him to release the original version of God’s Son that’s shytting on everybody.

Nas’ substance is why he’s lasted this long though and Irv’s opinion is exactly why it was so easy for Murder Inc to fall off. People got sick of Ja fast and 50 realized that. Ja had no story, no depth to any of his songs. Once 50 came through with a real story and music that moved people, it was over

Its one of his go too reference points

His relationship with Jay
His relationship with Nas
How he discovered Ja
How he played a hand in DMX signing to Def Jam
His sexual history with Ashanti
The beef with 50
Telling the Feds to suck his dikk

Thats Irv Gotti’s life story in a nutshell. He’s made his claim to fame based on his proximity to more famous, more talented, more respected individuals. He barely even talks about his production work (in which he’s made legit classics) he barely talks about his business acumen unless he’s bragging about how much rich white people like him. He spent maybe 15 minutes of a 2 hour interview plugging his new streaming service and the movie he funded.

Dude really fuels himself off the drama he’s been in.

Am I the only one that thought Blood In My Eye actually wasn’t that bad?

He should’ve mixed some those harder songs with some of the joints on R.U.L.E and he would’ve had a great album

I like Blood In My Eye album but the problem is that album sounds like a mixtape, G-Unit diss album, etc

Agree with you that should have mixed those hard tracks on RULE

Irv is so Goofy...

On It Was Written, Nas was telling a story.

The album was cohesively organized.

Street Dreams, I Gave U Power, Watch Dem Nikkas, Take It In Blood, Nas Is Coming, etc.

Silent Murder was a deleted scene

Shootouts is the ending of the movie.

It Was Written is still one of my favorite Nas albums...Irv's goofy azz needs to sit down.
This thread just made me revisit IWW

Album has some of the greatest introspective descriptive imagery. Nas in his prime was a microphone menace.

If I Ruled The World was just Nas attempting for mainstream appeal.

Yeah, that's true but not to mention his relationship with Supreme too.
