For fast food, $20/hr is good. Economically it's only good if you living at home or with a roommate. If you living solo, $20/hr is poverty.

I hit $20hr in 2014 for the first time. I was 28 and single. I thought I had made it.

I always had roommates, no debt, owned my car, had Texas liability insurance, and didn’t have any expensive habits.

I just traveled and stacked. I thought I was a king and never considered I could hit $30. Got a job with Southwest and saw $30+ was attainable and wasn’t every shyt anyway.

I couldn’t imagine making under $30 now even if I was single with no kids.

I see these rent and food prices. ATL charging 18% gratuity on everything. How can you even date making less. I pray for my Coli Brehs career and financial success for 2024.

I already accounted the car being paid for, hence no car note.

1 bedrooms can still go for $900 - $1200.


The goal should be to never work overtime. Any job where you HAVE to work overtime is in so many words poverty.
