I think Pac is a better Lyricist than people give him credit for but it's not really what you go to Pac for. He's a poet writing from the heart, his voice and presence embody his background and heritage perfectly. That was the best thing about that era, all the elite artist were very distinct. Pac was never as witty as BIG and he was never as descriptive or effortlessly intricate as Nas but you can't deny the way people respond to Pac's music, they/we feel it in the gut.

50 Cent out of all ppl saying that Tupac wasnt a all time great is insane. especially seeing how Eminem & Dr.Dre built his whole image on being the "NEXT PAC" after he got hit up & him riding the wave going along with it...

"I Want em to love me like they love Pac" :stopitslime:

But to take a deeper context here for some of his points:

Nas being a better story teller then Pac is bias. Both great story tellers but also tell from different perspectives. one uses metaphors & lyricism to pait the picture to the listener. while the other is more direct and passionate. For example: "Brendas Got A Baby", "Wonder Why They Call You Bytch", & "Shorty Wanna Be a Thug" are just as potent & clear as "N.Y State Of Mind", " I Gave You Power" & "One Mic".

Eminem being a better spitter is crazy tho, i cut the video off after that shyt.

but 2Pac not being considered a lyricist is probably one of the worst takes in hip hop history.

He said if we’re looking at it just from the skills/technical perspective. I’m sure 50 considers Pac one of his Top 5-10 rappers in history. Skills are probably like third or fourth on the list of things most people take into consideration when formulating their Greatest lists…skills usually comes after Great Albums, Impact/Influence, Tenure…ish like that.

"Articulating street life" :dahell:

So if you don't dry snitch about murders and coke tales in your songs, your quality as rapper is in question?

:pacspit:

Pac could never

50 is absolutely correct.

Pac was actually more technical than people give him credit for. Especially when he was trying to be. Pac did concepts. He he could rap about damn near any subject. Listen to a track like Blasphemy and tell me Pac wasn’t lyrical. Never heard 50 make nothing on that level lyrically. And PAC was better at using literary devices than 50. Listen to a track like If I Die 2nite.

It’s funny and ironic outta all of his contemporaries the only one I’ve seen or heard say Pac was nice was Biggie. I think maybe Nas too. Other than that just boil him down to emotion and passion.
