its not that he's just fukking terrible if he does pretty good. Its just the numbers NOW will never justify that money..

Look at the Cardinals.. they knew

The numbers don't justify the contract. Agreed. The way baseball is structured players mostly get chump change in their primes compared to what they're worth and get overpaid on the decline.

That being said, this thread is titled "Is Albert Pujols finished?" I think it's pretty clear the answer is no.

People have said even last year he was flabby and sick but he finished with the same HR total as Prince Fielder and only had 3 less RBI. 5TH among 1st basemen in slugging percentage. This year he's struggling a bit, especially with the foot injury, but he's still on pace for around 30 HR and 100 RBI. Still hitting .300 with runners in scoring position.

Not even a Pujols fan but the overreaction in this thread is killing me. Baseball is a long season.

In the first year of the contract, yeah. Hell, if he repeats those numbers again, I would be. Do you know how hard it is to find a consistent 30+/100-RBI/over .280 guy? And if he betters those numbers, I'm over the moon. Y'all want 50 homers and 200 RBIs and shyt. Be realistic.

:skip:28 milli for .285 30 105:bryan::comeon:

This is basically my stance. It's baseball. They overpay for damn near everyone. But y'all make it sound like Pujols is a bum and that's simply not true. shyt, I woulda overpaid for him like a mufukka. Ain't my money.

Nobody is talking 50 hrs and 200 rbi's. The problem is...his production across the board has decreased since 2008 and on top of that, he's 33 with 8 years left on a $240 million dollar contract. Right now batting .240 43 games in is cause for concern no matter HOW you spin it. I'm not calling him finished, but it's obvious (and logical due to age) to expect his best days are behind em
