She is wrong but can't tell cats like you who want to be offended nothing.
I don't play stupid and ignore the very climate and circumstances we currently live under to adopt a hypothetical ideology based in fairytale just so I won't look like the guy that "wants to be offended"

From being the auntia mamas, to being the clowns on rodeo shows, to Amos and andy, to the dove soap ad, to the H&M ad, again the evidence of them portraying us as criminals, predators, homosexual, evil etc is plenty and so it's nothing wrong with being a little cautious. If it was ad with a homosexual man in a trix commercial but it was no cereal in the ad and the caption read "not for kids" everyone of the gay brigade would be heavily offended and know exactly what it was implying and no amount of "bu bu bu the trix slogan is , trix are for kids" would change that they would be offended by the perception.

Evaluate how black men are portrayed in the media, movies music and then go back to what she is saying. We don't own these companies, the only way to get them to stop this is to complain at all cost. It is literally the way other groups move. But we sit here trying to prove we are not "overly offended" when the truth is, I don't give a damn if others think I am that.

If you want to be offended be that. Outside this convo it doesn't matter the same way it don't matter if we agree or not. I don't care how white people portray black people. That's your problem right there. You give a fukk what people that aren't you are saying you are. Don't you know who you are already? I do and don't need no white person or anybody honestly to tell me who I am. We just look at this way differently and that's ok. We just going to have to agree to disagree because I don't lump everything together just like I wouldn't want someone to do to me. What I'm saying is just because of one ad from the past doesn't mean this ad is a problem because of other ads. If you disagree cool we will both be ok. At least you had some thought out response unlike the coward @LauderdaleBoss who tried to use some wack comeback when he no actual retort for his silly posting.

Thread got so much comedy, but I still learned a few things.

1. Random ads with vague messages can be placed in spots for everyone to see even though only some people will get the concept. :patrice:

2. nikkas expect you to do in depth research on advertisements that offend you so you can see if you're getting offended for the right reason. :gucci:

3. A lot of soccer fans will downplay/ignore racism in order to feel good about the sport they love. :snoop:

Difference in culture that's it. Rye is coming from a Black American experience while soccer and adidas itself (German brand) is not American at all. Given that FIFA (soccer's governing body) has had tons of advertisement on racism campaign and some ad like this in the soccer the world doe snot get noticed speaks on the difference in perceptions of racism or what's racially insensitive.

No bro you are coming from an American perspective when the sport is not an American sport. So whatever racial sensibilities you have as a Black American cannot be applicable or be relatable worldwide. It's random TO YOU because you didn't grow up with the sport or been part of the culture or coped cleats growing up.

You can make the argument that ADIDAS should have done its due diligence when marketing to a North American or American audience then that's valid.

A lot of soccer fans don't downplay from experience racism. There is racism in soccer no doubt but FIFA (soccer governing body) has done its fair share to address the issues. When you watch an international soccer game, there are a lot of adverts on racism and "KICKING" it out of the game (pun intended-that's a slogan). When the NFL and the leader of the free world chastises Black players for kneeling or calls them SOBs for exercising their 1st amendment right, I don't think any American sports fan should complain about soccer regarding this issue.

Is FIFA perfect? no but there are efforts on getting rid of that shyt out of the game where teams have to play in empty stadiums in home games if their fans have engaged in racist behaviors the previous games. Does this happen in American sports? I don't think so. Do you see the NBA or NFL banning home fans from the stadium where home teams have to play in empty arenas or taking victories away from teams whose fans engage in racist acts? That;'s what happens in international soccer.

:what: Now you're reaching nikka. There's not a single soccer fan that will deny that there is racism in the sport.

If you want to use your ignorance of to justify your outrage, be my guest, but if you're dumb enough to see an adidas logo, with a direction to a store, and fail to use common sense and logic, be outraged silently.

Because your fake outrage trivializes the actual racism that exists.

He been reaching. Hell he reaching with two unless he wants to be like the stereotype of a chick. This basically saying you should be offended just because and when people suggest you might want to look something up to make sure its what you think it is that's a problem? Sad times we living in where people rather be guided by just emotions instead of checking things to make sure their anger is justified. I didn't know telling folks to double check something that in this case would take a minute or two was too taxing.

I won't discount anyone's opinion but there's not much difference between these two pics. Is it cause the word predator is in red by itself?

The shoe is prominently shown and the words lay out what the ad is for and what the product is.

I don't have a problem with the ad but let's stop acting like these other ones being posted have the same ambiguity in a country that still calls the sport soccer and whose mass produced media has always found a way to denigrate, blatantly and subtly and even unintentionally, the image of blacks.
