Is Beal better than uninjured John Wall?

an in shape, healthy, motivated Wall is a special player. we have rarely seen that player though. Beal is closing the gap. he isnt shooting the ball great, but he is definitely the safest player among the two and less enigmatic. I wonder why they didnt/couldnt hold on to Satoransky? he was a good fit next to Beal.

They could have. He was a RFA. But he wanted to get away from Scott Brooks. Brooks didn't value Sato and if you recall during the 2018 playoffs, he had Ty Lawson off the street from China playing minutes over him in the first round, right after Sato started 30 games for Wall.

I'd have kept him around because Ish Smith is a worse player making $3M less and I hate that the Wizards keep getting midget PGs.

BUT, the other solution would be to start Troy Brown at PG and use Isaac Bonga more if you want to improve the defense from historically bad to perhaps just below average. However you can never have Isaiah Thomas and Ish Smith in the game at the same time. Brooks is an idiot for that shid.

No coincidence the Wizards won when IT was off the floor for most of the 4th... and Thomas Bryant's defense has been disgusting this past week too. Wagner may be a better defender once he stops fouling all the time.

Wiz offensively are one of the most efficient teams in the league. Too bad they have a historically bad defense. Beal has dropped 44 in consecutive games and I believe he can keep up this type of offensive output nightly.

Mo Wagner tho man. He was nice at Michigan. I was surprised he slid to late first round and even more surprised the Lakers gave him up for nothing. First dude to come off the bench with a 30/15 night since Yao in 2002.

Get Wall healthy next season, get the shytty Mahinmi contract off the books, and hopefully get a top pick in the draft. Could make some noise next season.

Wiz situation isn't too dire. They have probably $11M under the cap next summer and will be $35M below the luxury tax line. Biggest need is a starting SF who can play defense and hit the 3. Can Troy Brown become that? I'm not sure. Can Isaac Bonga become that? Not sure. Both of those guys are big PGs at heart.

I do like Bertans off the bench for Wall when he comes back... this is the most amount of shooting the Wiz have had since Wall was drafted. I'd keep Bertans this summer and find a SF.

I'd also find a better backup PG

John Wall to the Jazz

Mike Conley Jr is there. And the Wiz ain't trading for him for salary relief since he's older than Wall

Satoransky was a frustrating player to watch. He was just way too unselfish with the ball. Very skilled , I never understood why he didn’t try and take over games at times by taking it to the rack more. Sneaky athleticism, matches up with Oubre even. But I understand why they let him walk. Can’t really complain with any of the moves Sheppard made. He seems to have done about as well as one could imagine with what he was working with. Seems to have hit a HR with the Rui pick at #9.

I agree about IT man. Can’t afford to have him out there for major minutes. He’s just the worst defender ever. Especially can’t have him and Smith in there together. Not to mention Bryant playing zero defense. I mean, if you’re gonna give $ to a big man he has to at least protect the rim and be an elite rebounder :francis:

Hopefully Troy Brown Jr. can develop. He’s only 20 and seems to have made some strides. Bonga is so raw, I don’t know yet about him. Great move getting him and Wagner for nothing tho :ehh:

Wall has never played at the level that Beal's currently playing at, at any point of his career. Only a rockhead would try to argue otherwise.
:manny:
Even though this Wizards roster is absolute trash defensively

I’d be interested to see how Wall plays with this much shooting on the floor esp this bench unit

Under normal circumstances, I'd suggest they trade Wall, but at this point, there probably isn't going to be any buyers who'd exchange something worthwhile in return.

No doubt, the synergy of y'all second unit on offense is crazy as hell.
