If your idea of Success is being the next Steve Jobs, than you set yourself up for disappointment.

:comeon:

But, if you want to be able to provide for you and your loved ones; Take regular vacations; Spend your life with a partner you can be happy with; Have manageable debt; Own property; Lay a solid foundation for your children to have a better life than you currently have; indulge a hobby; Maybe even Have a positive impact on everyone you meet; That's nowhere near impossible.

You just gotta work for it.

:blessed:

It's all a mindset.

If you think being successful is a scam you're already down by 50 before the game even start.
This is just being realistic with what is possible, now I can set my children up for success if I ever have any, but my parents didn't put me in a position to be successful. They just recycled me into their poverty that I'm paying for even to this day.

@TM101 you sound like a loser breh, no homo :dame:
Lots of people who sound like winners who never did shyt with their lives, you only hear about the success stories because of survivorship bias...

Find better success stories or leave it alone...

Its obviously not the life for you
I'm just interested in learning about the world because everything I learned growing up was a lie and I'm struggling to cope with reality.

Every time I read about a success story, I end read their Wikipedia bio and find out that they either had an elite upbringing with private school education, resources that I have never had access to, some connection that they were lucky to run into who put them on, and or they had some skill that their parents forced them into doing as children until they became the 1% at it.

Is their anyway for the regular individual to find success in this world? Because I'm not seeing how or people just don't want to talk about it. If anything people are becoming rich telling others that the success they want is possible when it isn't.

There is a grain of truth to what you are saying.....

Im successful and have wealthy parents......

I had tutors and private school and all that crap....

My parents never gave me the money to set up my own business , so in some ways Im self made

BUT .... more than money having parents from that background equips you with the mindset and confidence to take risks or to follow your dreams and ambitions...... when you are surrounded by people that are "doing big things"

Also, In the back of my mind I always had a safety net......I think Im a natural risk taker, but If my parents were poor I cant honestly say If I would have that attitude

Also business opportunities fall into your lap all the time due to connections, when you move in those circles people will always put friends or family on so
to speak......

Its definitely not a scam....but it is harder ....anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar

just like anyone telling you in the USA that whites dont have an advantage

This. I don't come from a particularly privileged background but I've figured it out the hard way. You are the company you keep. If you surround yourself with "ain't shyt" ppl, chances are you're going to wind up doing much of the same. I don't know know any independently successful people in real life, but I try to take what I read on wiki bios and apply it to my life. The shyt really ain't that hard. If you're willing to make some sacrifices, and can avoid jail, the game is yours to win.

Explain Russell Simmons, Master P, Ben Carson, Many professional athletes etc. Lots of people who come from nothing make it. IN fact sometimes its easier when you come from nothing because there no pressure for you to fit in and follow society demands. Imagine telling your pops you leaving your 6 figure job with your Duke University degree to do something you really want to do that will not pay no where near as good.

Russel Simmons' dad was a school administrator which have an average salary of 85k a year plus his mom was working so I wouldn't consider him "coming from nothing"

Master P built his wealth off illegal activity ...

Ben Carson's parent shoved education down his throat until he was a genius, that goes along with my post
parents forced them into doing as children until they became the 1% at it.

Many professional athletes had trainers or some guidance figure to force them into doing their sport until they were really good at it as well and the idea that most professional athletes come from nothing us false. The LeBron James' and Derrick Roses are the exception of the rule. The average athlete had an upbringing closer to Stephen Curry than someone living off section 8,

you'll never do shyt with that mentality. it may be partially true but this line of thinking is absolutely toxic. you have to want more for yourself and you have to make it happen. making excuses why you aren't living to potential won't get you anywhere. some can be true but you need to project better for yourself.

I tried being positive and wanting more for myself, but I failed and put myself in a deeper hole due to not having anything mentioned in the op. What I'm trying to say is that it's hard to be successful if all the pieces don't come together at the right time and that happens for very few people.

From your posts...you are looking for excuses to invalidate other peoples success

Even if we put forth someone with no start up capital ....no connections...

You'd still find an excuse to invalidate them

Look into these guys

  • Manny Khosbin
  • Tim Blixseth*
  • Felix Dennis
  • Alan Sugar
  • John Ilhan
  • Carlton Ellington Cushnie*
  • Hüseyin Özer
  • Robert Herjavec
  • Gurbaksh Chahal
  • Jürg Marquard
  • David West
  • John David Caudwell
  • Bill Cullen
  • Isaac Larian
  • Shahid Khan
  • Carlos Castro (of Todos Supermakets)
  • Shama Hyder
  • Lowell Hawthorne

I'd love to see what excuses you come up with as "advantages" for these successful people
especially the immigrants......

*disclaimer (they were once successful at some point and time)
