I think I saw something a while back that happiness has a correlation with wealth....but only up to a certain point.

I wish I could tell you the dollar amount but I don't remember.

Maybe another coli member has seen something similar?

I came across something similar and the threshold was $75k then people become like whatever.

Yeah I think it was 75k.

But then again...it all depends on the person.

I just learned from being dirt poor in the projects that money isn't everything to me.

I'm doing good now and I've learned that I'm not materialistic by any means

I can't see how

but being from the hood and broke all your life is definitely overrated, I can speak from experience :mjcry: these rappers lying to the kids
I can see where you're coming from

But imagine making 5 racks every 2 weeks after coming from the hood :banderas:

I don't make that but that to people like us....from the hood hood....not a little struggle....I'm talking inner city, projects, family shooting up on the toilet, no food or parents hood. The struggle.

After going thru what I went thru....and now making a decent living.......I just can't see how millions would improve my life. I'd use the money to help my family and shyt like that.

So, personally, it wouldn't change me, but I could help others.

What if you worked 40 hours a week doing something you enjoyed and owned but you made 100k as opposed to being rich?

All things equal, BEING rich is certainly better than not as it will afford you more options.

I think you bring up a good point in the op though. How much work you have to put in to get x amount of money is very important as having ample cash but a terrible quality of life is certainly not an admirable position. Ask any big law associate or management consultant.

Knowing what 'enough' is for you is very important to happiness imo. Somewhat related, I really like this quote from Martha Washington:

"I've learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances." - Martha Washington.

Yessir. Look at all those literary stories.
My depression and upbringing just skewed my vision maybe for the better LOL

If you think money is overrated then you lack ambition and vision. You can't make enough money and if you are black in America you should always be thinking of being your own boss. The power of money is to make more money and that correlates directly into living a lifestyle that you have ultimate control over.

I imagine having everyone coming out the woodwork looking for a handout and knowing you got a 99.99999999999999999% chance of never finding someone that loves you for you is kinda shytty, so I can see where this thread is coming from.
this usually leads to depression or heavy drug use.

I couldn't imagine how stressing being rich is especially looking at it from my family perspective :damn:
