Is Derrick Rose essentially done as a superstar in this league?

Maybe you're right. :yeshrug: Maybe he never will recover.

I know im being hopeful because i hate to see when top tier athletes have what could have been GREAT careers destroyed by injuries. Even when they're not on my team or on a team a hate with a passion. We're all here are fans and spectators. If my team oesnt have great players id love to at least see great players play in the league. We've lost too many great careers to injuries in the NBA. Players that were supposed to be world beaters get hurt as they entered their primes:
  • Kenny Anderson
  • Grant Hill
  • David Robinson
  • Antonio McDyess
Not that he was a superstar but Laphonso Ellis and Abdul Rauf are others i hated seeing hoe injuries diminished their careers. Even Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning suffered similar career impacting injuries/illnesses.
Again, im just being hopeful. As much as i hate some Bulls fans sometimes and would love to see them STFU I cant hate on the kid :manny:
good list but where the fukk is PENNY HARDWAY!?

He'll be a 20 ppg scorer again in the NBA. You can see that the skill and athleticism is still there. He's just rusty from not playing for a while. And he may struggle this season and only score in the high teen's while he works his way back into shape but eventually he will get close to the level that used to be at. As long as he suffers no more injuries.

It's too early too tell. Everyone is trying too hard to define his status... he has basically been out of basketball for about two years, he's gonna need some time to get his feel for the game back.

He's missing a bunch of layups right now, that's not because he "will never be back to where he was physically," that has everything to do with timing. If he was shooting 50% in this tournament your whole perception would be different. Even if he never returns to where he was in terms of speed and explosiveness... which is possible, I can't act like it isn't a reality. But that doesn't mean he's not going to return to star status. He's got some work to do, he's got to become a real outside shooting threat and change the way he goes about doing some things off the dribble. But the dude wants it, if he falls short it won't be because due to lack of work ethic.

Whether he returns to his athletic form or not, he's going to maximize what he has to work with.

Ask me after New Years.

He looks like dimished physical goods in the World Cup. That's not good for a 6'3 guard with a suspect jumper.

I know many Bulls fans won't accept reality about this guy, but that's cool. Seeing your franchise player losing it cannot be easy, especially one from your hometown.

Anyway, I see him as a 17/6.5/3 player this year on 41/30/82 splits. That's basically Russell Westbrook rookie numbers :heh:

I also seeing him a lot worse on D. Really looks like his lateral quickness has taken a hit with these two knee injuries.

to be honest, his defense probably is the only thing that has looked pretty good consistently this summer.

I think it'd be a bigger concern if he looked slow or didn't seem able to explode or slide his feet on defense. From what little I've seen of him in these past couple weeks + the scrimmage games, he seems more or less where I recall him being athletically back in 2012. Based on some of the earlier games I didn't think his confidence was fully there... as off the pick and roll he would often jump in the air prematurely (imo) to pass, as oppose to continuing his drive to the basket with all the real estate still between him and the help defenders. He was finding klay and a few others for corner threes using those jump passes (defenders were still giving him the benefit of the doubt to sag off of those guys in anticipation of a drive to the rim).. so i figured it also possible that he was simply going the extra mile to be a good teammate.

But after seeing him botching breakaway dunks, missing layups and just generally fumbling the ball when trying to make something happen off the dribble, I feel it is just a combination of nerves plus readjusting to game speed and rebuilding some of that confidence/calmness/awareness where everything around you kinda slows down and you just react better. I just feel that as long as he encounters no more knee issues and he stays where he currently is physically, that he'll eventually find his handles and his running floater thing. He'll definitely have to do something about that jump shot tho..

dude is looking just as sharp athletically as he was when he fell in 12'.... he is rusted mentally which will oil up the more he is in action.

i've never seen a athletic envied as much as him, thing is he's a humble fella.
