Nelly, 50 cent, Luda and TI were not at the top of rap all those years like Drake has. from 09 to now Drake has been the MAN in rap. you can't say that for those artist you named.
Are you saying Drake was one of the biggest rappers from 09 on? Or the biggest?
And What do the new streaming rules have to do with it? It was easier to go plat back then.
That remains to be seen. The streaming rules are pretty new and look what it's done for Drake already. The labels can now factor in how much people are listening. It's brilliant. Let's wait and see if certifications increase.
Where are there arena tours? Drake sold out MSG for 4
You think 50 and Nelly weren't doing arena tours? Or Kanye and Ja?
Salute to Drake for the multiple nights in a row though. I've never heard of anyone even trying they before.
But MSG is just a normal sized arena. It's not a stadium
Drake has not been the "Top" rapper nor "Dominated" the culture these last 7 years either. Eminem and Wayne outsold him in head to head years.
Exactly.
Eminem is getting by on his name, not dominating shyt, whens the last time he's had a big rap feature? Smack that? Em is making recycled pop rap music now, I bet even he knows that, he's emeritus status like Jay, but the key demo doesn't care about him like they do Drake or j Cole
At least Eminem is rapping!
Not that I doubt anything that your saying, but why are we giving Drake all this credit in hip hop for Hotline Bling and One Dance?
ve Wayne 09-11 but I'd say Drake was at his level, Drake was everywhere his freshman year. He dipped off a little with the TML era but once the take care era started it was a wrap. You have to give him 11-16 at minimum.
So was it Wayne in 2011 or Drske?
And how was Drake on top in 2012?
Selling records don't prove relevance like your are claiming.

Singles charting and tour performance is much better barometer of relevance.
Singles charting can be tampered with. Gotta give it to Drake on touring though, I don't see how that can be faked.

But back when people had to buy records, and Nelly sold 8 million in 18 months, that doesn't prove he was relevant?
TI and Nelly at their Peak could never sell out MSG...
Nelly did Arenas breh.
People will buy nellys album just cause it's a nelly album. Nelly had no hits on that album and probably couldn't tour off it. No impact on the culture.
Oh I agree. It sounded like you were saying old artists get certified just because.

2011 Wayne did just shy of a million first week. He was still the top name. But he was descending and Drake was ascending.

2012 was Kendrick.

It's too long. Monotonous. Starts out really strong. Then the middle really drags and by the time I get to that awful Back That Azz up remake I'm done.

Biggest in had the highest selling album? Biggest single?
What are the criteria?

Same thing was said about Wayne when in his prime. If anything I see Drake more compared to Kanye in terms of singing and catchy clever verses.

They aren't his songs and that's why he can't be included in Lyricist category. Entertainer, sure. But not, top lyricist, sorry.

I'm tired of everyone acting like Jay reached heights by himself

He stole songs, kept the publishing, used BIG's lyrics to "inspire" him, etc...

Jay ain't no saint, he's a user

No.

Sales wise he has smashed it, he is making good music.

But he isn't on Jay's level, Jay is a nicer MC and he has a better aura. Rappers may hate on Jay but they legit want to be down with him or be him, not the same for Drake.

fukking dead at these desparate delusional dikksucking stans of Queen Aubrey & Her Woes of The Writers Block Roundtable aka Do Rogue And Kopy Everything aka Kike & The Ghostwriting Gang aka Jimmy Cochran & Associates LLAC (Limited Lyrical Ability Corp) aka Kirby Graham aka Kosher Cell aka Swag Tsung aka Drizzy Vanilli aka Six Fraud aka Shim Gawd aka Simp Doggy Dogg aka Kike Moist Dee aka KikeRS-One aka Jewpac Shakike aka LL Kike J aka Aubrey Frank aka Pissy Elliott aka Piss Stain Papi aka Ludapiss aka Goldenshowerface Killah aka Pissy Smalls the Notorious DEPENDS aka Pisstikal aka Aubrina The Teenage Snitch aka Aubrey Herpburn aka Aubrey Onassis the First Ladyboy aka the lead singer of Klepto By Nature with the new single "You down with USB? Yeah, you know me!" so deep in they feelings over the GOAT our Flow Lord and Lyrical Savior Hova Da Gawd lyrically sodomizing PED Papi and his conglomerate of Caspers on IGTK they forced to take raw dikk in their ass for 8 ball money so they can smoke away their sorrows over their baby daddy being constantly destroyed by his idol and make god awful threads that in no way affect the GOAT Hov's GOATness being infinitely superior to PED Papi's WOATNESS

There's literally not a single aspect of rap that PED Papi and his indentured ink slaves living in the tent city at Casper HQ are even remotely close to being in the same time space continuum as the dimension in which they could thought of as being within the same galaxy as even a watered down Bizarro Hov on his worst day, not to mention the GOAT our Flow Lord and Lyrical Savior Hova Da Gawd had given KikeRS-One the gas chamber treatment on wax so viciously even Hitler rolls over in his grave when he hears the "ugh ugh" from the GOAT and begs him to spare that kosher cocksucker Kike Moist Dee

Are you sure it isn't the same?

Blueprint is like my favorite album so I won't compare another album to it.

But Take Care is better than Reasonable Doubt. It is more influential and has no skippable tracks like RD
