Transformers was panned by the reviews....More Life isn't.:ld:

More Life also sold 4x platinum and had 22 songs off the album on the Hot 100 charts.:dwillhuh:

Please explain how having great commercial success, all 22 of the 22 songs on the project hit the charts, and no respected review sites panning it = trash album?:ohhh:

Just doesnt make sense:manny:

Again, a trash album is "Teenage Emotions"...."More Life" isnt trash at all:yeshrug:
You're still equating commercial success to quality and have no other perspective so I'm not debating with you anymore.

"got the billboard melodies...rap is something I do on the side...crossed over to the other side..and I didn't even have to die"

those bars are very telling. Drake went full pop. He's at that point where he doesn't need the black vote. He didn't fall off, he just crossed over. But that can be viewed as falling off as far as hip hop is concerned. But he doesn't care about what yall nikkas think....anymore.

Im equating the #FACTS:

  1. I personally dont think "More Life" is a trash album.
  2. "More Life" has sold 4x platinum which means consumers are into it.
  3. "More Life" came out months ago, and is still the #9 Album in America today which means it's still selling today.
  4. "More Life" spawned 22 Hot 100 songs.
  5. "More Life" hasn't been reviewed by any respectable review site as "trash".

So....what is your debate? :jbhmm:

Explain to me how "More Life" is trash?:patrice:

None of you have done so and keep saying "quality" as if I have to prove anything when it's YALL who are the one's saying "More Life" is trash:dahell:

I never even gave my opinion on the album, but I know, for a FACT it's not a trash album bc I own the album myself and listen to it all the time:ufdup:

So, unless you're going to step up and explain how it's trash or provide some type of reason/facts behind it being trash, then you're right, it's no reason for you to respond anymore:yeshrug:

What's the problem with this?

And y'all steady equate metaphors, social awareness and Multi syllable rhyming to quality

No, Im not only equating that...it's just extra points for me.

I already don't think that More Life is trash....he apparently does. So, when we go to the facts, they are all on my side:

  • Reviews
  • Charts
  • Commercial Success
  • Tours

None of those point to the album being trash, so then it comes down to only his opinion vs mine, bc he has nothing to back up his point that the album is trash at all.

basically their points are "More Life is trash bc I said so":mjlol:

"Rap like I'm the greatest then give you tropical flavors, still never been on hiatus"

These bars are MORE telling

is he still the main nikka?

Still number 1

It's the Meek effect... Meek put a blem on his rep as an MC

at the end of the day.. Drake is almost bigger than just the genre.. Drake is hip hop popstar

He still number one.. his music is just as enjoyable as Kendrick and J coles and it ages very well

1. YOU don't think it's trash so you're already infusing your own bias into facts.
2. The album has not SOLD 4x platinum it's STREAMED 4x platinum, a format that can be manipulated and we don't know if these GLOBAL streaming mediums like Apple Music are strictly reporting American IP addresses to the RIAA or using their GLOBAL numbers. I have a problem with this for ALL artists, not just Drake. Not to mention for the past 2 releases Drake has taken advantage of the 10 songs streamed from an an album = 1 unit to basically released 2 double albums of 20 and 22 songs.
3 & 4. The consumption of music and modern day rules allow Billboard records to be broken daily and for an artist of Drake's popularity I'd imagine most or all of any album would land on there. Billboard rewards popularity over quality so once again you're equating mass appeal to quality.
5. Yeezus was pretty well reviewed for "pushing boundaries" but many people don't like it. TPAB is one of the highest rated albums and many people believe it's supremely overrated. But I will concede that is probably the most sound argument you have, not this numbers shyt.

You keep equating numbers to quality, this is music not sports where stats are what we live and die by to determine how good an individual is in their field. I never used the word trash actually (likely someone else did), the premise is Drake "falling off", which means descending from whatever level of creative potency he was on or believed to be on. For a good deal of people, that creativity has waned. Between that and his music not being omnipresent like previous summers it is easy to see why a "slow fall off" looks possible. If YOU like the album then go ahead and like it. I know you're going hold on to stats anyway so go ahead and have the last word after this.

Just know that with your line of thought MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, and Eminem are top 3 of all-time :yeshrug: but go ahead and get your last words, or rather numbers, in.

  1. Do you think "More Life" is a trash album? Yes or no.
  2. Doesn't matter. Everyone plays by the same rules. Drake is certified 4x platinum. Migos with Bad & Boujee and Rae Sremmurd with Black Beatles COMBINED still didn't reach 4x platinum...matter of fact, they've combined with 2 huge songs to only be 2x platinum. That speaks volumes to Drake's #'s.
  3. You couldn't appeal to the masses if people believed it was trash. Again, Lil Yachty proves what you're saying as false.
  4. Same as #3
  5. Was Yeezus called trash? Was TPAB called trash?

At the end of the day, once again, none of yall are providing any reasoning behind calling Drake's project trash. You don't have any reputable reviewers calling it trash. It's selling. It's up for AOTY.....but yall calling it trash? That makes sense to you?:jbhmm:

Also, saying someone is falling off is fallacy to me, when that same someone has outsold 99% of albums that have dropped this year, is still selling crazy, doesn't have any reviews calling his last project trash, is up for the album of the year, and he STILL has 4 songs currently on the Hot 100 right now as we speak. How does that = falling off? It doesn't.

So, lets agree to disagree bc you're not getting anywhere with me by not providing any tangible evidence of either Drake falling off or "more Life" being trash.

As long as numbers and creative potency go hand in hand for you, yes, we agree to disagree.

You're argument that trash sells therefore Drake is trash is so bad that it's funny.

Drake makes trash music according to who? The critics? The awards? The consumers? Take your pick:mjgrin:

He makes luke warm (C average) music according to critics. Therefore critical acclaim can't be used as a defense for his music.

And I'm :dead: at awards. You weirdos cry cac this and cac that all day long on here but bust a nut in your pants when he wins a Grammy or sweeps the Billboard awards, as if the vast majority of people making those decisions aren't white.

For the record I never said he was falling off anywhere in this thread, and I never directly referenced Drake until someone else did.

The phrase "trash doesn't sell" is objectively wrong. That's my point. I'll @ you the next time I decide to go in on Drake so you can know when to defend him. You can let his dikk breath a bit until then.

Fred.
