Lol, so Camron was the one who pioneered the sped up soul sample game, not Heatmakers?

Nate Dogg invented G funk

Raekwon started the scarface samples

You guys see the logic here?

Christ you dudes are idiots :russ:

If it wasn't for Cam nobody would know who Heatmakers were. Cam put them on his album thus he made the wave hot.:mjlol:

Are these people not all working on Drakes projects? Is Drakes projects not what presents these songs to the public?

Be an idiot breh and think cats are talking about Drake producing songs :russ:

Be an idiot and refuse to give producers credit for digging samples because you're dedicated to be a dikkrider:russ:

“It was just me and Drake wanting to do something different, and to make a sound that we felt like was unique,” 40 explains. “It really resonated with people. That’s also the co-production of Drake on that level, because he is a producer, by any means. He’s also responsible for that simplicity. He’s also responsible for a lot of the sound that I’m heralded as creating, but we created it together.”

Cam making the "wave hot" is different than saying he was keeping sped up soul samples alive. You're saying Drake is keeping sampling in hip hop alive when he isn't making the beats at all. How does that make any sense?

So that invalidates the production work the Heatmakers did? They dont deserve any credit?

:wtf:

Boy you dumb as bricks

You're picking something that literally only the beatmakers do. That's nonsense. You can say Drake is keeping X alive if you had any evidence that he was consciously the decision maker. Drake is keeping singing/rap alive sure. But something you're not entirely sure he has anything to do with? That doesn't make sense.

Eh....this isn't really true at all. Well, it's true sampling can fukk up your album budget if you aren't careful but to say only big artists can do it isn't accurate. Madlib isn't a big name producer and he only ever uses samples. "Pinata" was full of samples.

etc. etc. etc.

Fred.

are nikkas like this even clearing the samples though? Or are they just not popular enough for lawyers to bother suing? Because you look @ nikkas like Roc Marci, Alchemist, and now you got that nikka Daringer with WSG/Conway....and I always think to myself "how they afford these samples?"

You can sample anything and put it on mixtapes

nah i think technically they can still sue you even if its not for sale . If kanye came out with a free tape I dont think he could just use whatever sample he wanted and not have to clear it especially if he performs the songs.

Plus a lot of these underground cats releases are all over Spotify, etc and iTunes. Madlib got tons of shyt for sale all samples and i remember an interview where he said he's only been sued once in his career for sampling.

I think its just because they dont generate enough $$$ to make it worth the lawsuit. :yeshrug:
