Green is the best defender, he's asked to do more than Leonard and basically does everything at an elite level. If Kawhi had to guard bigs he wouldn't be able to do as good a job on them as Green does on guards.

That's basically what I meant to say. Leonard is better guarding wings than draymond is bigs(which isn't a knock on green) but draymonds versatility is where the separation comes in at. Just amazing.

The Spurs defense holds teams to a 97.3 ORTG when Kawhi is off the floor - it would be the #1 ranked defense in the league
The Spurs defense only hold teams to a 109.1 ORTG when Kawhi is on the floor - it would be the 28th ranked defense in the league

Now obviously you have to take into account lineups/opposition lineups and all the other defensive activity that goes on, but it's certainly telling when the Spurs' defense is A LOT better when Kawhi isn't on court.

I wouldn't say improved. He's just putting more effort into it this year since he doesn't have to work so hard for his offense anymore. The playoffs and especially the WCF showed that he can play DPOY defense when he wants too

Kawhi will probably run away with the DPOY this season but both Draymond and KD have been better so far

of course he does, but when you play with 3 guys who can score 60, it's easier to focus on your defense, and he's their best passer on that team so he helps with the offense
