You have some beefs in hip-hop where both sides have good tracks and where some just took a close L but Eiht is one of those dudes who just got ate (no pun intended) on wax.

Jay recovered from Ether
Nas recovered from Takeover
Dre recovered from No Vaseline and Real Muthaphukkin Gs
Cube recovered from bytch in Yoo
Biggie recovered from Hit Em Up

But this shyt...this shyt right here nikka...DEFINED MC Eight. His image and career never recovered from this.

I can't listen to Eiht without thinking about it and I actually like him as a rapper. If cats think Meek Mill can't escape Back to Back nowadays...that's almost NOTHING compared to how this track has haunted Eiht's career since '94.

The beat and overall production on Dre Day really is brilliant. As a diss track, it's just filled with gay jailhouse violation fantasies, particuarly the lines towards Luke. A lot of diss tracks have a couple lines like this but the whole Luke diss is just about gay jailhouse shyt. The video has the Luke character getting fukked by some 400 lb guy lol

Real MF G'z certainly had the better disses.

I think as a song Dre Day>RMG but Eazy's disses were more potent.

Definitely. The video for Dre Day was a harder diss than any of the lyrics. The lyrical disses in Dre Day were actually pretty terrible. But it's a great song and you can't go wrong with a 1992-93 Snoop. He could make anything sound good. He made just spelling his name on G Thing sound like the dopest thing ever.

But the disses on Real MF G'z

"Dre Day only made Eazy's payday"
"Beating a bytch don't make you shyt, but then again,
Some nikkas think it makes em men"
"Ain't worth a food stamp
And at Death Row I hear you're getting treated like Boot Camp
Gotta follow your sergeant's directions
Or get your ass popped with the Smith and Wesson"

I didn't realize as a kid how many times they came at Cube after No Vaseline. But it was always some little shyt. Just the last few bars of Dre Day about catching him in the temple in SC, they didn't include him on the "can eat a big fat dikk" shouts out at the end.

Nuthin But a G Thang- "Mobbin like a motherfukker but I ain't Lynchin"

Puffin on Blunts, Drinking on Tanqueray- "Death Row ain't Lynchin and the Pound ain't Mobbin". Still my favorite Kurupt verse ever. I didn't follow Above the Law so I didn't know he was going at them too.

Let Me Ride- "some nikkas like Lynchin, but I just watch em hang". By the time this came out, they were cool, and Cube was in the video
