Isn't the EDM festival performing model the same as what NYC Hip Hop started out as:
a deejay in front a large audience?

Do we have our own versions of the Ultra Festival, Electric Zoo and the Electric Daisy Carnival?

And if we don't, why don't we?

If we could have Wattstax, The FreshFest and the Budweiser Superfest decades ago, other than AfroPunk,
how come the new generations don't have an active, ongoing youth music festival scene?

Yes they do, but let’s not pretend there are lot.

There are a lot of blacks who listen, but they do not go to the shows.

It's just like rap/hip hop, a lot of blacks listen to it, but they do not go to the shows. I went to a gucci mane concert and majority of the people there were white.

Other than hip hop what do brehs listen to?

The tastes today have been conditioned to be limited to commercial rap.

Thirty something years ago, a Hip Hop deejay's crate would be filled with incredible variety.
They weren't Hip Hop fans, they were music fans.

Hip Hop deejay's crate used to feature a mix of styles to please the crowd:

Super Sperm - Captain Skyy
Funkbox Party - Masterdon Committee
Dangerous Diseases - Michigan & Smiley
Drop The Bomb - Trouble Funk
Sucker MCs - Run-DMC
I'll House You - Jungle Brothers
Beat Box - Art of Noise
I Know You Got Soul - Rakim
Kuff - Shelly Thunder
Before I Let Go - Maze
French Kiss - Lil Louis
Bad Times - Captain Rapp

honestly, regardless of race, in these modern times people mostly fukk with rap, lust-filled rNb for thots, country (with heavy pop and rnb influences) and commercial girly/teen pop ala bieber, lady gaga, swift etc.
