Great album, but not a classic. Ken Kanniff skit alone keeps it from being a classic. To add to that, Amityville is weak, Kim is almost unlistenable, and most of D12 are not up to par on "Under the Influence."

"The Eminem Show" is Em's best album.

Very few old records dont sound dated, it doesnt mean they're not classic...

I see a majority of the voters think its a classic... :francis:

sell 32 million records worldwide and win all the individual awards based off that album and assumed nobody would think its a classic :deadmanny:

but he wasnt saying shyt.

naw, he won't speakin' on no shyt like a conscious mc or nothin' but eminem had his place in hip hop

his topics ranged from him bein' the underdog, his home (8 mile and the trailer park), his mom, his daughter, his ex wife, life before the fame and after along with a bunch of shock value shyt but that was apart of his shtick. redman never really talked bout much either and he's one of the best dependin' on who you ask :yeshrug:

i'd say eminem was speakin' on a handful of things it's just all a matter of whether or not someone likes it or not and what one considers "sayin' somethin'"

how many albums about whining about fame are classic? lot of rappers do it though unfortunately. plus what insights into the nature of fame were truly original or resonant? beats were subpar. kinda cartoony. i suppose he structured his rhymes well but to me thats only one part of a much larger composite needed. plus getting mad at MTV darlings that were famous at the time has also dated the album.

stan is a impressive song from a technical, storytellin standpoint, but still, like chris rock said, who the hell still listents to stan. when i think of em, i think of him as a rap version of an american idol singer drunk on melissma. sure the tecnique is impressive the first few times, but ultimately doesnt matter as time passes

Trash basically.

it all depends on what 1 considers "trash" :manny:

i think drake is trash but a number of people who buy his music don't :yeshrug:

same goes for when puffy was sellin' all those albums, nelly and or ja rule :lolbron:

it's all subjective but i respect your opinion :myman:

Most of my favorite albums from the 90's sound like 90's music, they aren't something I can put on and just let ride. It's very few albums that translate well over time for me. Reachin by digable is one of the few albums from that era that I can honestly say plays well whenever/where ever and it wasn't even considered a heavy hitter among albums like doggystyle or the chronic which all sound noticeably dated and not in a good way.

I think It's dark and hell is hot is an album that I loved and consider classic and I couldn't make it through a full spin because it sounds dated, it having that time capsule effect doesn't diminish it's impact though. I'm not about to sandbag that because my musical tastes grew/expanded or would just rather hear something newer.

Only on this website is it not one. Indisputable classic

i've noticed on this site (the majority) of people that say it's a classic either got into Hip Hop through Em or in that era that say it's a classic. i don't personally see how it is, the unnecessary skits, low replay value and a lot of the subject matter is extremely dated (name dropping/dissing celebs & pop stars is always a bad idea). the rhyme schemes & technical ability shown on songs like Criminal are nothing to laugh at but i just can't fukk with the skits & joints like Drug Ballad i always thought sounded like an SSLP left over.
