You're not wrong in that. I'm just thinking in retrospect though where these men are in our community since we also have dealt with single parent household lead by women. Some of my learned behaviors about gender roles I learned by women growing up, not men. Even damaging things like not crying or what a "sissy" is. Yes it's gendered ideals perhaps pushed by patriarchy but these were women pushing this to me as a young boy. It's not far fetched to surmised that some of these older women thought they were helping these young boys into "manhood" by having sex with them.
