Is Freddie Gibbs a legend?

I like Gibbs but there is little to no story to tell in the grand scheme of Hip Hop regarding him.

That’s what a legend is, a story.

So when you say the word legend in the context of Hip Hop think about trying to tell a story about that person and the moment/moments they created. There has to be more there than just some albums you enjoy. There’s obviously levels to what or who is legendary but again it’s about the story.

Biz Markie was a legend…he was apart of very memorable moments. Even if it was just one big thing, if there’s a story to tell about it there is some degree of legend.

I can’t begin to reach for anything like that for Freddie despite how dope he can be, it’s not just about quality of music. shyt Vanilla Ice is for sure a legend off one sing you dig?

His association with Jeezy is probably the most notable thing about his career that creates some kind of narrative.

Dope rapper, even though his subject matter is very limited majority of the times.

His LP's with Madlib have good replay value & are incredible albums.

His other LP's are great when they first drop but I never really find myself going back to them apart from a handful of tracks

I’d give him “blog-rap era legend” (id have to put some thought into where he stood in the ranks of dudes like Spitta, Krit, Wiz, etc) before “Gary Legend” (dudes yall never heard of like Ric Jilla or the Grind Family are more revered on some beloved Gary Hood Legend shyt)

He was one of the guys here, everybody knew him. He ran with a crew and he was lower level in terms of popularity but his skills were definitely acknowledged. He really had to grind to get where he is. He has some folks here that don't like him. He's burned some bridges (from my understanding it's not really his fault) but most people in my age range really rock with his music. He came back and gave all the kids at the high school backpacks and shoes one year when he had something with Adidas. We can pick and choose what words define him, but he's respected as a brotha that's done well for himself from Gary and never really forgot about the hometown.

Ric Jill and the Grind and CCA all came before Fred. The really pioneered rapping in the area.
