My Pops Forever RIP
this is the gist of it.

Also American sports fans suck now, and have been trending downward for 20 years. Especially on the east coast. Cost of games, and cost of attendance around the area is a big a reason why. Also American culture is losing that dirt under its nail edge we used to have. We also are not that creative of a sports fan culture.

Yeah we're horrible fans. The WBC was on last year and it put any major event I saw to shame.

This article pretty much hits it on the head.

From the Darkened arena to the complete darkness of the "ft shooting" wing that has glow in the dark sticks that replaced thundersticks, the entire Barclays Center experience is geared towards theatrics than pure sport. Combine that w a team w no true fanbase/identity. It's scattered NJ Net's fans, transplant New Yorkers wanting to latch onto something new while it's early (hipster) and people who appreciate or stan Jigga.

They've marketed that as such. They hope to achieve "Lakers in Staples" status and have no history to give it prestige.

Every now and then you'll hear a brooooookyln, brooooooookyln chant

Thats what that was?
shyt's pathetic

Now, this is not just a baseball affliction. It goes for all American professional sports. We are, with very few exceptions, a passive fan base. We suffer from Touchdown Syndrome – waiting for the big play, addicted to it, really, and happy to sit on our hands until it happens. The monster dunk in basketball. The goal in hockey. The home run in baseball.

ive never been impressed by the knicks crowd. the only time they have really been hype was linsanity.... other than that they are usually pretty quiet until late in the game. compared to fans like golden state who are loud throughout the game

Brooklyn
this might be true with the 80s/90s NY Sports scene. but not in 2014 when 75% of the people in the city going to games, walking the streets etc are from Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri.

Things that make you laugh represent the past
Reminisce the block gamble gees on the floor
nikkas use to be the man, you don't see 'em no more
Your favorite restaurants and favorite stores, they tore 'em down
Turned 'em into shopping malls the hood is like a ghost town
Haunted by souls who thought that time stood still
Just live your life to the fullest, never look back, it's real

Must be some kind of funk with the franchise front office.... don't forget the team started out Jersey then Commack then W. Hempsted NY before moving back to Jersey and now BK.... kind of hard to get a long term loyal fan base with that much movement in about 1.5 generations of sports fans
