Is God selfish? How come He demands constant praise and worship while not doing anything for us

Gods omniscient but creates his literal anathema.

I honestly don't understand how anyone with the amount of knowledge at our fingertips still believes in religion.

Believe in a higher power sure, even I kind of can get behind that. but the abrahamic god? pure lunacy. The old testament reads like a fever dream and some of you nikkas take it literal :mjlol:

Y’all religious folks (even of the same religion) are never on the same page. Everybody has different theories and arguments. If God was such a sure thing then why is everybody still so divided on who he is, what he wants, etc, etc? You would think a entity that’s as revered as god is in the world would have more concrete direction for his followers.

God is a concept to explain Law.Praying/meditation is manipulation of energy and yes, praying to God is basically asking the universe to do something it already did, namely giving you consciousness. Asking the wind to stop blowing would be along the same lines since the idea of fair or just is a concept as well. An animal doesn't question it's nature/concept it just acts accordingly while we think God has reasoning to make us feel like we matter more than we do. God is Law, all laws in this universe attest to that,we are just concepts of consciousness inside a law that forgot its true nature.

You can put a new concept into the universe and still not receive it.

Its along the same concept of when you’re thinking of something in your head and then somebody else says it out loud.

People will say G-d/the universe doesn’t answer their prayers when they didn’t meet the devotional criteria to receive it.

Right... so the first Angel with free will disobeyed God and was immediately cast out. Does this not prove God has a need to be worshipped?

Also, if an Angel in his service that's well aware of his power, and might still chooses to disobey, how can he possibly think some scriptures will be sufficient to convince a population far removed from him as us? In his infinite wisdom, he thought it not best to reveal himself to us but instead rely on unreliable testimony? Considering the amount of division across the planet, I'd say there's definitely a lot of room for improvement ... given he's omniscient and all...

Satan was cast out because he was trying to actually BE God and overthrow Him.
God Himself doesn't "need" to be obeyed but we should do it to honor who He is. He doesn't "need" to be worshipped but we should do it because we love Him and are thankful for what He has done.

A personal relationship with God/Jesus and knowing who He is on a personal level is what God really wants from us. Scripture was not meant to replace that. It's like if I wanted to get to know you and you gave me a book someone wrote about you to read...that's a good start but to really know you and separate truth from fiction, I would seek a real relationship with you. A personal relationship with you. And that is what God really wants from us. Relationship. Not religion...relationship.

However, once you get to know Him for yourself and realize how big of a deal Jesus' sacrifice was along with eternal pain-free life that He is offering to us, you WANT to praise God all the time. Once you realize someone loved you enough to die for you and never leave you alone, you WANT to be thankful to God. God extends extraordinary love to all. He is extremely merciful on top of that. In fact two of the men closest to Him in the Bible - David and Moses - were murderers. Jesus' own great great great grandmother Rahab was a prostitute. And yet God forgave them and extended love and favor to them. He does the same for each one of us as well. All He really wants is for you to have a relationship with Him. Try Him...what's the worst that could happen if you believe in Him?

Being in a state of perpetual adulation prevents you from questioning the absurdity of it all.

Nope, God allows us to theoretically wrestle with Him and to literally wrestle with Him (as Jacob did in Genesis 32) as well. His prophets often got angry with Him ( like Jonah) and He allowed that. He gave us free will so we can come in threads like this and debate His existence and seek a relationship with Him if we so choose. That being said, I love God but I have also openly expressed my anger at Him allowing a great deal of heartache. I had a lot of senseless tragedy happen (before I was out of my teens I had lost my mother, brother and granpdarents from Cancer and lung diseases; my best friend committed suicide; and another friend was in a freak accident and is now a paraplegic) God wants us to come to Him with all our anger and questions too...not just our adoration of Him. In seeking out a real relationship with someone, you have to be free to let them see you hurt and angry and stressed and vice versa and God allows us to do that. He also has sent the third person of the Trinity (Father/Son/Holy Spirit)...the Holy Spirit to comfort and strengthen us in times of great stress/anger/loneliness etcetera.
