Is God selfish? How come He demands constant praise and worship while not doing anything for us

Let me first preface this by saying I am a born and raised AME Christian-turned-agnostic, so take whatever I have to say how you will.

However if you believe in a Christian God and fully understand the overall concept of such a deity as an individual entity, there's no way you could come out the other side of that and still believe He cares anything for such vain, basic and frankly childish concepts like constant praise and worship. That sort of thinking is largely a callback to pagan and other pre-Christian religions where they had far more vain and "selfish" 'Gods', societies ways of thinking and behavior.

Most of the things you take for granted that allow you to live a peaceful life is what God is doing for you, but never does He get honored for it. It's just like a bunch of spoiled kids who cry about their parents never doing anything for them, yet ignoring the fact that they have food, water, protection and never have to pay a bill.. but just because that kid can't have everything his way, all of a sudden his parents aren't doing anything for him. But let his parents pull back that protection and let that kid hit rock bottom and he'll realize real quick what his parents have done for him. Same with God. Americans live such a pampered existence that they take their comfort for granted. Once all of those blessings get removed, then maybe people will wise up to how God had blessed him. Also, people complain about God while completely ignoring Him or making active efforts to push Him out of their lives. You can't expect coverage from a policy you declined. .

If you study science and believe in God, then the only conclusion you can have regarding Him is that if He exists, He must then be beyond human understanding, because His supposed creation was beyond our own knowledge for 1000s of years. You can't talk about him like he's your father, mother or friend nor assign human qualities to Him.

For those that believe in him and calling him selfish, thats outright selfish on your part imo. You wake up everyday with the opportunity to better your life, endless entertainment at your feet, the ability to see different places and countries, the great experiences you have gone through throughout your life.....this is why he should be praised
