Of the most popular Black comedy sitcoms from the 70's, "What's Happening" definitely came in last place. It was also the last one of the 70's. Believe it or not, it was a spinoff from the legendary movie "Cooley High". A childhood friend of ours, whose family was from Chicago, told us this. It took a minute to believe it, until I noticed it listed on the credits years later. But if he said "Good Times" was that spinoff, I would have believed him.nah son, that show was fukking terrible. The whole cast (literally the whole cast except rajβs wife in later seasons) was fukking ugly to the point you had to question how the hell they even got on TV, the acting was horrendous, it looked low budget as hell and the plot lines were corny.
whatβs happening is a c or d tier black sitcom sitting in the same realm as homeboys from outer space.
