Yeah that seems to make the most sense.

Why am i paying fees and still gotta do my own yard work lol.

Just make a flat rate and let it cover landscaping and private security

you have landscaping and then you have lawn care

most HOA will only cut the shared areas they're not going to cut your actual backyard, feel me?

I'm assuming you have a fence

these HOA convos will only make sense if you SEE what kind of crib these people are actually in tho

everyone has a diff version of what's CLEAN and what's NICE

lot of people have never actually sold a house either

It’s not a scam. HOAs make sure the community is well maintained and home values don’t drop due to residents and homeowners bad management of their own homes. They are also responsible to make sure the amenities are well maintained. They are well worth it but some can be overpriced to be honest.

Imagine having your value decrease because some renters keep the homes messy or people can vandalize the community as they wish, or the homes look dirty but the owners refuse to paint or pressure wash them ?
Show proof of this happening.

I live in an HOA community now and I'm considering running for local government so I can dissolve certain ones in my jurisdiction.

My particular HOA is so crooked and corrupt, major insurance companies won't even insure our homes because they know the HOA has deceptive practices.

Everyone talking about neighbors leaving furniture outside and people not cutting their grass, call the local government and have them address the situation.

HOAs serve no purpose and don't address anything the local government can't. Only HOA that has a benefit is for a community on a private road that the local government doesn't serve for snow removal or if a tree falls on that road. In those instances, HOA should be established for snow or tree removal only.

Only other reason I can think of is if you live in a community with a pool, the HOA should be established to maintain the pool only. All the extra stuff needs to be handled by the local government.

HOAs should have no legal right to put liens on anyone's property. The government should be the only entity with the legal right to put liens on homes.

If you're a contractor working on somebody's house and they don't pay you, that's your stupidity for rendering services without payment, you shouldn't have the right to put a lien on that property either.

IMO an HOA is only worth if you have amenties to pay for outside of just rules for housing. IE a community pool, security, park maintenance etc
things the not only contribute to the value of your home but the the quality of life.
If all your HOA is there for, is to ensure people keep the grass cut, and don't paint the house wild colors. You might as well just do the groundwork yourself and find a community that does that all on their own. people in my neighborhood aren't in a HOA, but everybody grass is cut and houses look nice.
Don't need to pay an HOA for that, and if i later want to install solar panels and have a garden to save money, i don't have to worry about losing my house.

I'm fine with HOA if it's nothing crazy. For most people if you're simply doing the normal things you'd expect a home owner to do - like bring their garbage cans in after they've been emptied, take your Christmas lights down before New Years, cut your grass in a timely manner, etc - you'll be fine. The only issue I've ever had was when my cousin was cutting my grass and some piece of shyt neighbor (who doesn't even live within 20 houses of me apparently) interrogated him on whether he lived here. I saw the conversation from out the window, so I came outside and handled it. There was no rule against him cutting the grass. The (white) bytch was just being a piece of shyt. If you know the rules and stand on your square it's actually funny watching them take the L.

Yeah. My lady's mother lives in a non HOA neighborhood, and it's the wild west out there. Got houses with weeds as tall as small children, folks with a couple of project cars just chilling out front looking busted, and all kinds of random shyt.

HOAs that are full of people power tripping suck, but reasonable ones have their benefits.
