So it's worth it because you get to go to a park? :mjlol:

Just say it keeps nikkas out :mjpls:
Nah, at the condo, I'm cool with it because they cut the grass weekly, they paint, clean up regularly, and fix everything outside... I can see the work and they do a good job upkeeping the property, so I can easily keep a tenant.

At my house, it's the rip off because all they do is keep the pool clean for a few months and no kids play at the park...

Ive never heard of an HOA repairing your home.

Then again i will never move into an HOA neighborhood. Lived in one growing up, right the PGA course in Piper Glen and Ballantyne.. shyt was horrible. You had to consult them before you even reseeded your grass or wanted to paint your home
I guess I'm thinking condos. :hubie:

The house across the street from me used to be salmon pink. And that was the color they chose! It wasn’t already like that.

:hhh:

The new owners painted it beige and white.

:blessed:

Good thing you have new owners in your hood. There are cons to HOAs. But, one pro, at least in my hood, is that they have restrictions on renters and Air BNBs. Obviously, everyone has to upkeep their homes which help increase property values.
One con is that HOAs can go up on fees and you can't write off your fees.

At the end of the day, you take the good with the bad. HOA or not, at least you own some shyt. Lol

I don’t have one, but the city has been really strict for the last few years (gentrification) giving people notices about grass getting too high, property not being maintained, cracked steps etc. It’s a good thing. But they contract out the trash pick up, and when those guys drop trash on the ground, they never pick it up.

While I can't stand paying it, I do it and feel better about it once I step out and look at the grass cut, bushes trimmed and upkeep on our community.

I think that it's allowing me to retain the value of my home once I'm ready to sell...Some idiot can't go paint their house lime green and purple and mess up my prop value.

Only thing I hate, is all the "permissions" you have to ask. But for landscaping, it's worth it's weight in gold cuz I ain't cutting no more grass and I don't have to salt my walkway/clear it in inclimate weather...:yeshrug:

Gotta take the good with the bad

I have an HOA. I know part of my fees goes to hired security during the night. I know they are only required to observe and report, but it's better than nothing.

If I ever buy another home, I probably would not buy one in an HOA controlled neighborhood, but as for now, it is doable.

current HOA is $250 a year.

Last HOA in my townhouse was $250 a month, but included lots of shyt including cable and security.

I felt it was worth it for the time being. I felt bad for the ppl that bought in during the height of the market tho. I paid $109k for mine and just 2 years earlier they were selling for $179k. That amounts to over $1000 mortgage, plus the HOA.

But the 2015 the HOA got scammed. They upped the fees to $325 I think. Plus took away the cable, security, and some other shyt.

I had 2 roll out after that.

All in all. Some are cheap. Some are costly, but worth it. AMD then theres everything in between...

There are definitely Pros & Cons with HOA’s depending on where you live. However, I would say they serve a good purpose overall.

In Atlanta I would say it is worth it. The HOA in my neighborhood is $900 annually. That goes towards maintaining the following:
- Common area maintenance (10 areas throughout neighborhood - general lawn care)
- Pool
- Tennis courts
- Clubhouse
- Entrance security cameras
- Pest control
- Termite treatment
- Reserve fund

More importantly, the HOA restricts the number of homes that can be rented, doesn’t allow Airbnb rentals and ensures that the architectural standards are maintained. This all goes a long way to protect hone values. We definitely would never have a home painted salmon pink like a poster above mentioned (which could turn off potential buyers) and the community always looks presentable.

$900 annually/$75 monthly cor that is well worth it in my opinion.

There are pros and cons to HOAs. But, let's be clear..

Not all HOAs are expensive. I saw a home about 2 miles north of me painted their house Burnt orange. shyt like that is the reason HOAs exist.
Its their house :yeshrug:. It may not be in good taste but if they own it then they should be able to do what they want to it. Anything else is just glorified rent. How you gonna let someone else tell you what you can or cant have on your own property, how tall your fence is, what color you paint your house when you the one that gotta pay on it for 15-30 years. When you the one who gotta pay insurance, property taxes, and maintenance upkeep.

This is why i own a house away from everyone else on 5 acres.

The HOA at my condo is defininately worth it but at my house it's a fukking rip off. I mean they keep the pool and the park in my community up but those b1tches once fined me $500 because I put down black mulch instead of red mulch and when I didn't pay that sh1t, they cut my damn cable off... I was livid!

This gotta be cap right?? How the hell does a HOA have access to turn your cable off??
