The HOA at my condo is defininately worth it but at my house it's a fukking rip off. I mean they keep the pool and the park in my community up but those b1tches once fined me $500 because I put down black mulch instead of red mulch and when I didn't pay that sh1t, they cut my damn cable off... I was livid!
:mjlol:

HOH 's down in Florida are like the ghatdam mafia. My boy had a house built. His was the first in the neighborhood. A year later new houses started cropping up and they soon started finishing the neighborhood. Well the HOH started well after he was already in place so he was never apart of it despite being in the neighborhood. 5 years later I guess the HOH noticed him because he went on vacation and his lawn got a little long. When he got back he had a fine from the HOH.

He told them I am not apart of the HOH and they then proceeded to fine him for not paying dues and put a lien on his house.:hhh: He got a lawyer and sued them back for damages and slander. They fought it out in court for two years but my boy prevailed. It was a nightmare.

Where I live its worth it. Really clean neighborhood and we have 3 different private beaches(man made), several pools and some really great parks.

HOA is good if you're in a location where people don't like spending money on improvements. Forcing people to up keep the property helps protect your investment and your quality of life.

With that said, theres a ton of HOA that are just trash. It all comes down to the HOA management company and wether they really give a fukk or not.

While I can't stand paying it, I do it and feel better about it once I step out and look at the grass cut, bushes trimmed and upkeep on our community.

I think that it's allowing me to retain the value of my home once I'm ready to sell...Some idiot can't go paint their house lime green and purple and mess up my prop value.

Only thing I hate, is all the "permissions" you have to ask. But for landscaping, it's worth it's weight in gold cuz I ain't cutting no more grass and I don't have to salt my walkway/clear it in inclimate weather...:yeshrug:

Gotta take the good with the bad

People often make that argument in favor of HOAs but I've never seen a house painted a super weird color. Green is the worst I've seen.

Overall upkeep of the entire neighborhood matters significantly more than house colors and landscaping ideas.

Its their house :yeshrug:. It may not be in good taste but if they own it then they should be able to do what they want to it. Anything else is just glorified rent. How you gonna let someone else tell you what you can or cant have on your own property, how tall your fence is, what color you paint your house when you the one that gotta pay on it for 15-30 years. When you the one who gotta pay insurance, property taxes, and maintenance upkeep.

This is why i own a house away from everyone else on 5 acres.

I agree. Non HOA owners can do what they want on their property. Just like they can paint their home whatever color they want, they can also not manage/upkeep their home if they want.

So, since we both know what people can or can't do, let's say that some people prefer to hire property management to keep people in line while others are willing to take risks that may affect their property value, among other things.

Speaking for myself, I prefer to live around people who take pride in maintaining and upkeeping their homes. You may feel different, which is fine.

To each one's own!

This gotta be cap right?? How the hell does a HOA have access to turn your cable off??
They have a contract with the cable company, so they can do it if you don't pay the monthly fee or the fines.

I don't have it like that and it's not that impressive. I got the properties back in 2010 when the housing market was fukked, I only paid 38k for the condo.

There are definitely Pros & Cons with HOA’s depending on where you live. However, I would say they serve a good purpose overall.

In Atlanta I would say it is worth it. The HOA in my neighborhood is $900 annually. That goes towards maintaining the following:
- Common area maintenance (10 areas throughout neighborhood - general lawn care)
- Pool
- Tennis courts
- Clubhouse
- Entrance security cameras
- Pest control
- Termite treatment
- Reserve fund

More importantly, the HOA restricts the number of homes that can be rented, doesn’t allow Airbnb rentals and ensures that the architectural standards are maintained. This all goes a long way to protect hone values. We definitely would never have a home painted salmon pink like a poster above mentioned (which could turn off potential buyers) and the community always looks presentable.

$900 annually/$75 monthly cor that is well worth it in my opinion.

That's great.

You're looking at $700-1000/Mo. in South Florida for all this shyt depending on where you wanna live. Ain't no way you should be paying a rack a month in HOA fees on a $200-250k mortgage. That's fukking wild.

Can you find reasonable spots? Sure, but reasonable is still $350-550 in HOA fees every month. If you're lucky you get security, water and basic cable/internet with that.

This shyt a racket.

May be true. More than I got right now though. Salute to you, breh. :salute:
