Is it a good idea to join the military if one has no passion?

Quick question though. Sophomore year of HS, I was in NJROTC and I remember taking the ASVAB and iirc getting somewhere between a 45-55. Would that score still be valid or would I have to re-take it? And what branches does that qualify me for?
That ain't terrible but its not amazing either. Its been ages since I dealt with the ASVAB stuff but I remember a few things about my experience. Most people take it once and just take the offer on whatever they qualify for that seems to match their immediate interest. The people that fail or score lower than they anticipated typically give up. People testing well thinking they already got the job and doing dumb shyt before signing the papers and getting on the bus.

Either way, 45-55 is a more than decent starting point. If you can post on a forum, you can study to improve that significantly. All you need to do is push like anyone else would "how to improve asvab scores" in google or youtube. Listen and read while you walk. Doesn't matter how, just keep it going. I'm not sure how often you can retake or how frequently, but the practice ASVABs are available online and at recruiting centers. I couldn't tell you the current requirement shyt since constantly changes - and the military standards definitely are higher than they were 10 years ago.
What about older breh in the 30s with family joining?
nothing saying you can't
I am 33 and want to join the air force. I have nothing going for me
don't know about air force at that age, but either way - you start doing what you need to do yet?

Depends which branch. Cause if you pick the Marines your ass could be sent to a warzone, and not make it out. That shyt is a real fukking commitment with your life on the line, so I would think carefully about that shyt. Lack of passion and camaraderie could breed a mental condition later. You get that mental complex of this is all I know could be dangerous OP. Listening to people who haven't been in could be dangerous, do your research, and let your instinct guide you.

I'm looking to join the Air Force over here in England. I applied end of last year and did the test which has different sections. Missed by 2 marks in the electrical and mechanical engineering sections :francis: But recruiter said I can only wait 6 months as opposed to 12 to reapply because I was only a few marks short

This is the role I'm applying for, Cyberspace Communications Specialist. Basically IT Specialist

RAF Recruitment |Cyberspace Communication Specialist| Royal Air Force

They giving away a 5k joining bonus as well so I'm guessing they need numbers :yeshrug:

Plan is to be in for max 8 years. After about 2 year's I wanna start studying for my degree which they subsidise (BSc Intelligence and Cyber Security) and hopefully MS (Computer Science Cyber Security). Maybe even comment some certs on the way???

Stack up I estimate at least 60k, travel the world, become a landlord in the meantime...come out in my early 30s with military experience, a BSc, Masters, property and hopefully join the 6 cert 6 fig gang :blessed:

I like art. I want to become a painter when I get older although it isn't a lucrative profession so I'm looking for something to support that hope.
The arts takes time to perfect. Start now, everyday paint. See if you can even join a painting group on meet up app. Do it for months, see if you truly like it.

Why don't you look into the reserves or national guard. You can live a civilian life while devoting a weekend a month to the military(unless you get deployed)

I’m in the same boat as you B. I’m studying my asvab right now. It’s worth it, try it out for 4 years then see how you feel and go AirForce

Did this nikka say he want to be a ranger or green beret :mjlol: :mjlol:

Breh, with your mindset and from your posts on here, I’m not to sure you are mentally fit enough or aware of what the military life can do to you. You need to do a lot of research and think about why YOU truly want. There’s a lot of jobs in the military where you will not sit behind a desk but also won’t be in combat either.
