Yeah running a label is alot of work..

And Busta didnt have a "silent sidekick"who could handle the day to day operations....

Who was going to oversee Spliff Star's 4 figure recording budget?

Somewhere along the line... we expected to rappers to have this career path of: mixtape >> platinum album >> business executive. A lot of these men and women just like music. Rap wants these nikkas to be the ultimate multitaskers.

Something you little nigglets will learn, it is never a loss to have a job/work, it is a loss not to produce in any capacity or be worthless. Wayne signed him so, Wayne think he has worth. Your employer gives you an opportunity who cares if he/she is senior or junior to you, only you know your motivation and ambition.

You obviously missed the point bruh. Your statement is right, in regards to Wayne but I'm talking about Busta. I will use your analogy to make my point. It's not a loss to have a job, I agree BUT it IS a LOSS to BE IN THAT EXACT SPOT 20 YEARS LATER. :merchant: :whoo:

Basically, if you are a manager at Wal mart when you get hired and 20 years later, you are still in the same position, that is a loss. You want to grow my dude. Staying in the same position for over 20 years IS A LOSS. And to let the dude that came in 10 years after you, pass you and you start working for him/his crew, that is a loss my dude. :whoo:

Even if the issue is that a bigger label is really running the show, Baby and Wayne will NOW be getting a piece of Busta's check. Actually, they get the check and then they pay Busta out of it. They are his "handlers", if you don't want to call them his bosses.

He doesn't have to be a label owner, but rapper like Busta shouldn't have to affiliate with any label like that. If he just wants to make music, there are a billion different ways to do just that, without signing to CM. There are mc's from his era who do that. It's Busta Rhymes, running around with Nicki Minaj, of course that's a fukking loss.

how many viable hip hop focused record labels are there, where an artist like busta can remain relevant nowadays? Uh, YMCMB, MMG, maybe Def Jam. Thats about it.

Remember when around this time last decade every artist that went gold was starting his own record label? Companies and labels were investing in hip hop like mad, and there was plenty of money to go around. That money is gone. Hip hop has been struggling like crazy for years. The money has dried up.

Go indie then. He's had a pretty succesful career, he should be able to eat, plus he should be able to get a good beat or feature without overpaying. Why sign to a label to stay relevant when really you are far from and have to turn over creative control for that. Who wants to be relevant by whoring around to jump on a Chris Brown single? And when is his album dropping anyway? In a year Baby forgot he even signed him like Bow Wow.

THIS. Busta is a brand, he is known, where ever he goes. Busta doesn't NEED a label, he NEEDS to step up and handle his business. He is too much of an OG to need a label. Hip hop knows Busta and he doesn't need a label to drop an album. In addition, most rappers make money off tours and not record sales, which pushes the question even more. Busta can drop an album on iTunes and hire an agent to book shows. HE DOESN'T NEED TO SIGN TO ANOTHER RAPPER. :mindblown:

Actually, the dude that left Cash money, manny fresh, recently stated that labels are becoming obsolete. Young Guru said the same thing. All Busta REALLY did, was ask these people to take a piece of his check.

But busta clearly wants to still be a star, or at least have the chance to remain one. Now Im not defending how wise or unwise that goal is, but thats clearly HIS goal, and if thats the case how many record labels are there that can realistically facilitate that? Hes not trying to be joe underground, indie label niqqa.

This is not new though. Look what happened to him on Aftermath. After 15 years in the game with his own style, all of a sudden he remembered being in the ghetto, slanging cocaine. Cut his hair and went super sayan 3 brolic. But it was forgiven because the Big Bang cool, crazy production and respectable guests. But it was a similar situation. He was done after Genesis.

Everybody isn't built to be a CEO and actually run a label so Im not mad at him going that route. But signing to young money when you see only about 3-4 artist put out an album for them each year just doesn't seem smart unless he getting some ghostwriting money or some A7R money. he been signed for a few years now and the only thing I heard was a guest verse on the Carter 4.

Busta is probably doing way better than Wayne is. Bus doesnt have some scumbag giving him a weekly allowance of his own money. Wayne is the loser for submitting to Baby's every command like a little hoe.
