Is it a such thing as a rapper having an album with no skippable tracks, but.....

Thats what im saying. Those albums are WAY better imo. Twice as long with an over abundance of 5 star tracks. Those albums were even bigger impact wise culturally. Illmatic is like a myth that gets passed gen to gen. Great album but its FAR from perfect being that its half an album in first place.

Reasonable doubt:

That song is so fukking garbage. I don't know how it isn't held against RD more. The beat is ass too.

Mamacita is an instant skip

But Aquemini is still a little better than ATLiens, which has no skips

I get it for him on a personal level, but it was a sea change for hip hop. :yeshrug:

I listened to it once all the way through. I’ve never been able to get through it a second time.
It's a vibe type album, sorta like Kush and OJ by Wiz... It's not excellent lyricism, but decent-good rhyming mixed along with a great flow and chill song concepts has always been a recipe for good music in Hip Hop. It's sort of like Doggystyle in that regard, when you are that age (14-25) that type of music is the soundtrack to your life.. But prolly as a grown man you look back @ "bytches Ain't shyt" from the Chronic, and look it as problematic

Why does it gotta be that? Cant it just be because thats how some of us feel?

I feel the production is very outdated and i dont see whats so great about it. Its definitely a solid album. Not great, but
far from wack too. Its a dope album basically. But all that extra shyt i feel comes from its popularity, based on the single, as well
as Jay-Zs overall success in his career.

Just like with Vol 1, the good songs are really really good. But the wack ones? Wack or boring as hell imo. Nothing new just him riding the Ruff Ryders/street thing after the Sunshine flop.

I feel another overrated album by far is Blueprint. I feel people rate it based on the production. Great production, and its far from a bad album. But people act like its Thriller or some shyt.

1) The Booth is highly biased against much of anything that is successful regardless of how it sounds. This board will make a concerted effort to downplay and discredit anything that is popular or successful.

2) Because some of the production on it isn't outdated. Much of it still holds up. This again speaks to the bias in The Booth. There are albums from that era that definitely have production that is dated, but The Booth would praise said albums and call the production timeless. For example, IDAHIH is a great album from that era, but that album is sonically dated. A lot of the production definitely sounds of that era.

Also, Jay didn't ride the Ruff Ryder wave. That was a mutually beneficial situation and they benefited from that partnership more so than he did. He had like 3 Swizzy joints and by that time Jay already had like 2-3 big singles already in rotation. When the Ruff Ryders compilation dropped, Jay had the biggest song on it and helped that album be as successful as it was.

I didn’t have an issue with his rhyming on that album. I just couldn’t get Jiggy with most of the production. :yeshrug:
shyt was just boring to me :yeshrug:
bytches ain’t shyt is still a masterpiece to me :wow:

It's commercial, sold a lot of copies, made Jay a star, and sounds nothing like his debut. Pretty much why The Booth hates it. Anything commercial on The Booth is discredited by default.

Now that I thought about it I forgot this album had so many monster singles on it.

It’s alright

Are all favorites but because I heard the singles so much growing up I tend to only play the last four songs listed unless I’m just in a nostalgic mood.

Agreed. I stayed away from the album because a lot of it was on the radio. I did that with a lot of big albums. It wasn't because I didn't like the songs, but some of them were over played.
