Is it a wrap for traditional retirement?

I'm curious to see the numbers regarding how many people still working late don't have kids vs how many older people with kids are working.

Also, if having more kids means a higher chance to retire.

It may sound counter-intuitive but:

If somebody has multiple children, that may mean multiple people can take care of of one or two parents when they get older. Splitting the cost and making it cheaper.

So many things are easier in life with more help vs trying to shoulder the load solo.

Parents with more kids potentially get far more help even if they're all doing somewhat average.

i witness this shyt everyday. it's not boredom it's being programmed

people who been doing the same shyt 30-40+ years get stuck in the routine. dedicated to work and no life.

When I was in the steel industry the old heads would retire and die within the year like clockwork. shyt made no sense to me. Jobs robbed them of dreams and ambitions down to a social life.
working a 9-5 because your bored is the most ridiculous shyt Ive ever heard

Uh uh, keep talking

I made MAD money for Toys R Us during the Thanksgiving/Christmas break as a seasonal associate

They were about to go Bankrupt years ago, but I was the one that kept them rolling longer than expected :umad:

That future equity for being dependable should be coming in one day :umad::banderas:

shyt is sad, not a virtue.

They realize that way too late though.

When I retire I will be moving out to the middle of the woods and away from civilization.

Someone in my family recently retired, he has a pension, vacation houses, all that.
And he went back to work. :snoop:
Granted in his case it kind of seems like a "might as well" situation since it's like a arbiter type role instead of some sitting in the office everyday type job
Even still it's like chill dude, what's the point of "winning" in the middle class context if you still feel like you need to be out there chasing a check when it's clear you don't have to.

Not necessarily. This security guard at my job did twenty years total in the army (4 years active duty and the rest in the national guard) and worked twenty years in the police concurrently. By the time he was fifty, he took on the security guard job because he was bored. He didn't need the money because he had a pension, house was paid off, kids were grown and out the house, but after spending a couple of years retired and doing a little traveling, he took the job out of boredom.
A lot of the older people who work at the theme parks down here are in the same boat. When I did the college program at Disney, the staff was basically college students and retirees who just wanted to be around people. They loved it too. Seeing smiling kids every day >> sitting at home

Yep. I’ve been seeing retired people I know work out of need and even boredom. Those old heads hate sitting down tbh
My Granny is 80 and still works. She said it's the only thing keeping her going. For people retired that don't have the money to travel the world it gets them out of the house and makes them still feel like part of society.
