Alonzo mourning said the same thing. he thinks jordan would average 40. I don't know if thats true or not, but I wouldn't beat against it. the triangle offense actually took away from Jordan's individual stats. if he played in the systems of today, with shooters surrounding him

You can say that for anyone. Aside from Harden, Bron and Russ which superstars today play in a system that boosts their individual stats?

KD, Steph, Kawhi, Kyrie, et al. could also average 40 if they played in system where they just had the green light to shoot as many shots as they wanted.

all of them will average 3-4pts less in the 90's

1. harden - 26 at most. he won't be able to bully his way to the FT line. too many quality bigs in the middle.
2. giannis - too many solid bigs in 90s. he won't get to the rim at will. i would say he averages 23-24
3. bron will be just fine
4. curry - steph will struggle big time. defenders will just be all over him. curry is a perfect example of a great shooter who benefits from a soft ass era. and i like curry. but tough handchecking D will mess him up pretty good22-23 is my guess
5. cousins - first he won't be shooting 3s cuz coach won't let him. and he is undersized center. will struggle against quality centers. 22-23pts
6. lillard - another big drop off. no way he averages anything more than 20
7. porzingis - i like unicorn, but he's gonna get manhandled. 20 at most
8. davis - he will be a defensive specialist. no way he averages anything more than 20
9. KD - will be just fine
10. booker - :mjlol:

only bron & KD are transcendent.

yall nikkas must never played real basketball. :hhh:

Lol at this stupid nonsense. Bigs are going to lock up Giannis:mjlol:. I pay money to see Ewing, Mourning, Mutumbo, Malone, or Hakeem try to keep with Giannis.

:mjlol: At Davis being a defensive specialist. Act like he can’t shoot from anywhere on the court breh.

I say it's easier to score today do the pace play and the rule changes such as no hand etc . It's more of a premium to score of the ball and today's Ira opposed to yesteryear
If we’re talking early 90’s the pace was pretty much the same as now. Teams averaged between 90-100 possessions per game across the league. Late 90’s on the other hand was a mess of bad, ugly basketball where the slowest teams were playing as slow as 82 possessions per game. The other thing is so many players just flat out couldn’t shoot back then. A lot of guys are at least capable from distance now. Even with defenses being much more advanced, it’s probably easier based off of playing at a faster pace and more guys being capable shooters nowadays.

The last season where someone averaged 40+ was 1962-63. A nine team league where the slowest team averaged 112 possessions and the fastest averaged 127. The fastest team in 2015-16 averaged 100. Last year the fastest team averaged 101. The fastest team this year is averaging 103. Just off of that alone nobody is averaging 40+ in this league. By comparison, the year Jordan averaged 37, the fastest team played at 106. 35 is about the most you can expect to see someone average.

everyone in the top 10 in scoring right now would get buckets in any era.
nikkas bringing up pacing like it isnt in direct correlation to skill and the game advancing
the better you are at getting the ball in the hole the faster you can try to do so.
theres way more skilled players now than the 90s.
Not only that but the pace stuff evens out because slow-paced iso-heavy offense usually means heavier minutes for the best player and more possessions revolving around them. Guys like MJ, LeBron and AI had their highest scoring seasons while playing in the slowest teams in the league in those years.

Eric Gordan averages around 10 three point attempts a game in today's NBA.

Think about that.

Not even superstars took that many 3s back then.

Everything is meant for more scoring now days.
