Is it just me or did Biggie come across as a spoiled boy mad that his mom didnt buy him everything?

so his one story doesnt match so many other stories from people who grew up with biggie, and you take it as gospel?

How many other stories start with his childhood? Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't most of the stories told by his friends typically start with him chillin on Fulton when he was a late teen, or when he started putting together and shopping his demo? You think NPR and Ali Shaheed Muhammed is gonna pull some random nikka off the streets on Big's day to spin some duck tales in front of a live audience? They didn't do the typical Big interview, they went back to the very beginning, and had people up there who knew Christopher Wallace.

so by age 12 he was setting up his path to fame intentionally??
he caught his first charge at 17 though. and got lukky at that because if he was 18 he wouldve gotten 5 years max not 5 years probation.

Dude lived a working class life. Assuming his mom was a teacher she made anywhere from 18-23k in the mid 80's. In Bed Stuy, that was a decent living wage. So in short, Biggie wasn't missing any meals. It was a humble but comfortable living situation most likely. Like a lot of kids (I'm in his age range) he thought slinging was going to make him a lot of money. He probably had hard days here and there but he was not dirt poor. Biggie probably had a complicated relationship with his mom while he was alive most likely. So he probably genuinely loved and hated his mom, depending on the moment. This is what made Biggie great is that he expressed both the good and the bad of himself.

Hating on Biggie? Can you read? All i'm saying is that's what dude in the interview said. I was not there. But I see no reason for him to make it up. The way he described it was Big was a good kid with genius level intelligence. They decided to start rapping. Biggie met some jazz dude who lived on their block and they began to go to dude's house to learn about music. At some point, Biggie had the revelation that if he didn't earn some "street cred" he wouldn't make it as a rapper so he began going up to Fulton and gettin into shyt. He did not say it in a malicious manner. He wasn't bragging. He was actually in tears while saying that if his best friend had not made that decision, they probably wouldn't be sitting on the stage remembering him.

But was she a black queen? :xzmug: :pacspit:
His mom always came off like she gave him whatever he wanted.
I remember on "Behind the Music" and other tv shows with his mom on there she said something like he had nice clothes and video games growing up and shyt.

I just watched a biggie documentary that said anything big wanted he got and his mom kept food on the table every night but she kicked him out when he was 20 I think cause he wasn't trying to do shyt. Sounds like the average mom to me.

Still one of the Goats though

@AVthaPHARAOH didn't you say you met an old head in jail who grew up with Biggie and told you he was a fraud
In all fairness . . you're talking about the perspective of an obvious failure vs. someone who succeeded in life and regardless of his own merit he played up to the role that was expecting of him in the entertainment business at that time. If you're still hung up on authenticity in the entertainment business you need to realize it's not 1994 anymore

There really isn't much to see here folks :manny:

Facts. It was Dike-O, Mainos family member & the executive producer of his first 2 albums. He was serving a 10 year sentence for a brick. Main used to come visit him in the pen all the time, (thorough shyt), this was around the time he was somewhat having a buzz & dropped "A Million Bucks" w Swizz. Taking time off from the industry to keep it 100.

Me & Dike used to chop it up on the daily. He approached me after hearing about me knocking nikka out on the yard for stealing a radio from my nikka locker, on some :salute:

On the left.

He grew up around BIG & was really about that life, told me BIG really wasn't, which is why him & Main rocked w Pac harder throughout the beef, hence Mainos song, "Letter to Pac".

that makes no sense when biggie caught weapons charges years before pac.
when biggie got caught with a gun, pac was getting his footwork ready for digital underground.
