No, they raise half illiterate children and require us to pay for translators to facilitate access to local services: police, fire dept, schools, medical.

I know because I grew up with their children. That's where you get that Cardi B accent from in NYC, primarily uptown and Bx. I grew up understanding Spanish, watching Sabados Gigantes, and eating plantanos at my lil friends house. One of my bestest play aunties still to this very day only speaks to me in Spanish.

i disagree that they raise half illiterat children because i've seen those children have to translate all sorts of documents to theeir elders from a young age, the kind of documents monolingual english speaking parents wouldn't bother their children with. that takes understanding to be able to do that.

every international city popular with tourists pay for translators and multi-lingual signs. just imagine what could go wrong if every nyc resident spoke english fluently and we continued to to get 31K+ international tourists daily, do you know how many things can go wrong if they can't access emergency services, navigate our courts due to traffic tickets/fines etc? it would actually cost us in the long run if we discontinued all translator services because we actually compete with other tourist destinations.

people with business experience immigrate here and may not haveea full command of the english language but want to invest in the city, you think they should be stopped because they don't speak english fully? i've never had a problem purchasing anything from people who didn't speak english. either the price was on it or they say $1, $2, $5, $10. math is math.

i like that they have an application i 12 languages to open a electronics store.

beside AI is making translation services dirt cheap. i guarantee you within ten years damn near every municipality with less than 70% white population will offer comprehensive translation services for government documents and phone services. you don't need to be bilingual government worker to recognize a name in a form template, or an address, ohone number, DOB, and all the personal info they typically ask for.

taxes wasn't ever a valid argument to oppose translation services and theres even less of a reason to say that in this day and age.

The assumption here is that you would learn the language before going to live there. Which is ridiculous. So you get a job offer in Finland designing boats, you're telling me you gonna learn conversational Finnish in however many weeks you got before the job starts?

Or you meet a bad bilingual Japanese jawn and wanna settle down over there.. who tf is learning enough Japanese outside of Japan to be conversational. No one even speaks Japanese like that. shyts not even realistic. Ask Meg the Stallion how much Japanese she knows she'll look at you like you're crazy.

Now learning the language once you're there. Thats understandable. But learning is different for everyone. As long as it seems like you're putting forth an effort that should be enough. The people that move somewhere and don't even try yeah I'm with you, thats nuts.
Japan should not be used as an example
There are parts of Japan that will not even serve you if you can’t speak or read the language
Certain places will have signs up telling you don’t jump stupid, you not coming in here
It’s a story about a restaurant right now not letting Chinese tourists eat there
If you go to places outside of Tokyo, you better know some shyt at the very bare minimum
That’s either in kanji or language because they will definitely hit you with:unimpressed:
People really don’t get how some of these homogeneous countries get down until they are there
Only English speak countries get criticized for wanting people to speak the language(yes I know it’s not the national language)
Take your ass to Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and try to just speak English and watch for the hook

Americans go to EVERY corner of the world and speak slow english to people in their own countries as if they are the retarded ones......seen it first hand.......england sailed the world killing raping and assimilating populations making them speak rotten tooth bland food eating english.......makes no fukking sense.........

The even stupider part of this shyt is the overall dumbing down of the world and the causes of said dumbing then point fingers about how dumb shyt is.......

Basic
education used to include Latin French and Portuguese as standard so that there would be overlap in language no matter where you may go.......now it's just what ever shytty version of english whatever region feels everyone else should speak.......

The north got a problem with the south and they both got a problem with aave........had some filthy jersey slore slander the word yall talking about it don't make no sense......then the phrase youse guys emits from this cum breath skeezer in all seriousness........

Respect regions and all that shyt, but then also realize how the conditions being bytched about are the effect of the cause

In my experience <------disclaimer...........not one........a single one person or establishment wanted to communicate with me using my slow ass elementary japanese.......they would cut me off post haste and wanted to practice their english more than anything........ thinking back on it I should have been offended.

So you're telling me.. That someone should spend how ever many years learning Japanese (in whatever impractical way they can find as Japanese is not a popular language outside of Japan) before they even think about setting foot in japan to live.

As opposed to moving over there and doing whatever they needed to get done and learning over time with the locals... so all them soldiers on military bases, spouses of Japanese people, and workers for international companies in Japan are just being out of pocket?

The problem you have in the UK is that people who don’t speak the language or understand the culture come to the UK, don’t attempt to learn English and segregate themselves from any part of the culture, try to form their own little community and then still want to claim benefits and housing when they need it.

How can you live in a country for 10 years and still not know how to speak a lick of English.. a lot of people that do this over here are the south Asians and Middle Easterns who want to live in a foreign country but separate themselves from the locals
This happens in pretty much every developed majority English-speaking country (US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, etc.).

Kanji are logographic characters, part of the Japanese writing system, and are derived from Chinese characters. They represent words or ideas, not sounds, and are used alongside the syllabic scripts hiragana and katakana. Kanji primarily represent nouns, adjectives, and verbs, though they can also be combined to form compound words
