It's not that Wayne fell off...the fans fell off. Everyone moved on to different shyt. Wayne still spitting the same ol shyt that had nikkas convinced that he was the best.

Same thing when ppl said Chief Keef fell off...that nikka didn't fall off we just moved on to different shyt.

kids eventually grow up or hop on the next wave. Wayne's music never had any staying power and it certainly wasn't designed that way

Why didnt you expect him to fall off? Every superstar artist out side of Em and Hov has. For example 50 and Snoop were bigger than Wayne and both cant sell anymore. Drake is next.
Diddy didn't fall off. And snoop and 50 are bigger than Wayne. Idk what if Drake never did? If he could get out of his deal

You read my mind! This is exactly how I felt about Wayne by the Carter 4 era, like when's he gonna say something of substance and impact? I remember watching the first 30 seconds of this video and saying to my friend "This is Wayne's chance to say something real"

And then the beat drops and he's just speaking a bunch of bullshyt:snoop:

If Wayne would have went a Pac-like route it would have cemented him as a real legend. Too bad :to:

He mocked God for a shytty ass song :francis:

the generation that loved Wayne grew up.
Once you get in your mid 20's youre not out there looking for new music like that.
The music industry is about capturing the preteen to early 20's demo.

Thats it!
it happens to every artist
Not sure why yall get so surprised by this when it happens.
Truth

These threads are always funny, because it's much more likely that an artist is going to fall off than remain hot. There's very few people in any genre that stay on top for more than a few years. You can just look at the Billboard charts from 10 years ago to see how quickly stars fade in the music industry.

Yeah I'm aware of his Cash Money days, but I chose to count it from his overall mainstream/Billboard success and when he really tried to branch out from The Carter I. If you count from before that though, it's been 17 years which makes the case even more in favor.

edit: Dang never mind, his real first album did even more numbers than I thought. So yeah, 17 years.

21 years if you choose to include the bg'z album he dropped on cmr with bg. Wayne been rapping for a long ass time now along with some of some of our favorite artists.

nahhhh keef did fall off but he does show flashes of his old self on certain songs, like that song he had dissing new jersey, keef was washed up by that time but came back with that old 2011 flow, thats why so many people like that song even tho his recording quality was doodoo

Diddy wouldn't sell much if he dropped an album though. That's what I mean by fell off. Not the quality but the popularity/sales

IMO Wayne was always a mediocre talent who benefitted due to dominating a weak field. 50 Cent comparisons make sense. Both didn't really have rivals pushing them to be great, and instead enjoyed rather boring scenes. Yes Jeezy and TI were big too but there was never a true battle between them.

Wayne burned himself out with repetitive music. And I don't get the impression people hold him in the same esteem you'd expect a legend to get. Instead he exists like 50 Cent, a relic from a past era no one is interested in anymore.
Kanye was out when wayne was out, Kanye pushed him to be great on Barry Bonds
With 50 he was rivaling Nas and Jay until Get Rich dropped

Wayne's run was jumpstarted by hov's retirement, him sayin he was the best immediately after it, and flooding the market with collabos so no matter what kinda RnB/hip-hop you were into, you had at least one song you liked that Wayne was on. His run was based on that wave. Those conditions can't be artificially recreated.

He's been killing features again(smuckers, M's) but i think birdman's embargo got him in a creative rut, plus the industry has no laws to prevent shang tsungs anymore so his lane is diluted...:manny:
they had laws before
