Plus it's only one black coworker there and we complete opposites(I will not elaborate on that). Plus last week a coworker of mine who found a new job invited the team to a bowling alley with a bar, I didn't go but everyone else wanted me to go to welcome me since I'm still new.

no, that's not weird. some people prefer the comfort of their homes. i know i'm one of them. i have a different set of coworkers than most in here but it's the same principle; i like to chill at home whenever i'm finished working and not run around with the people i work with following our allotted work time.

Being new to the job, there is nothing wrong with going to 1 or 2 functions, but you have to remember that they are only inviting you to figure you out. Since your not being the loud mouth, rap talking, stereotyped black man, they pictured you to be; the just want to see how you really are.

You can go, but don't do shyt, just chill like you do at work. After a while of being the same person at work and outside of work, they will stop inviting you.
