Niceyes I do, fluently, but with a strong american accent.![]()
is it a common thing for African Americans to learn the language of their ancestors, or even speak a little bit? I've met a few AA dudes stationed in UK army bases, we chilled, smoked alot, some African dudes came through and somehow, the topic came to ancestry. The African dudes asked where the AA dudes were descended from, and they happened to be from the same hometown, Lagos. But AA dudes spoke no Yoruba or Igbo, and were like gtfo I don't speak that shyt.
Just curious as to whether it's a thing or not. Obviously the the centric ones have a higher chance, but I'm talkin bout the general population (not saying you gotta be a spokesman lol)
