Is it wrong that africans annoy me by over exaggerating the word nikka?

yes I do, fluently, but with a strong american accent. :pachaha:
Nice
is it a common thing for African Americans to learn the language of their ancestors, or even speak a little bit? I've met a few AA dudes stationed in UK army bases, we chilled, smoked alot, some African dudes came through and somehow, the topic came to ancestry. The African dudes asked where the AA dudes were descended from, and they happened to be from the same hometown, Lagos. But AA dudes spoke no Yoruba or Igbo, and were like gtfo I don't speak that shyt.

Just curious as to whether it's a thing or not. Obviously the the centric ones have a higher chance, but I'm talkin bout the general population (not saying you gotta be a spokesman lol)

nope.

I speak it because my mother spoke it at home since I was a baby. I could understand it from as long as I remember. Probably the same how mexican-americans and chinese-americans learn their ancestral tongue. At home.

You mean how nikkas call them swagless?

Some of these africans be swaggin out, its a different kind of swag tho, like a metro, european, african hybrid thing. wearing suspenders and bowties with gators, but it looks alright tho. I don't wear tiny pants, that's just not how I roll, but they clean with it. they dont dress like that in the U.S.
Hell yeah just listen to grime and see how they move

Of fukk naw breh you speak Lingala?!?!:gladbron:
Yooo, that's cool as fukk! I've met quite a bit of lingala speakers but I never thought I'd meet a lingala speaker out here on the coli. Never got the chance to learn the language either 'cause I was prioritizing Kimbundu (which I barely speak anyway).

Dap+Rep breh.

I'm West African (Angolan really), and I personally feel like anybody looks silly over-exaggerating the use of the word "nikka". African-Americans included. I do use the word every once in a while, and best believe I use it when rapping to my favorite shyt too. My African-American friends don't seem to have a problem with it, I always claim my home country though (wear my flag-shirts and everything) so it isn't like I try to claim I'm AA. That'd be stupid as fukk. I just relate to them at a deep level really.

I do appreciate AA for who they are and what they've become in this country. It isn't really a paternal pride or anything (for me being straight from the motherland while a lot of y'all have yet to visit), it's more of a shared sense of ethnic togetherness I share with AA's. Even if we are very different in many aspects.
It's just good to see that the seed of the Africans that came here by force managed to become somewhat really prominent despite all odds. Even if shyt ain't all sweet...so when a Mike Brown issue pops up, I feel just as bad because really I share the same feeling when a cac hurts one of you and gets away with. They're pillaging Africa too after all.

Although, I confess my accent is better than most other immigrants, so my nikkah doesn't come out as a "kneegah". I could actually pass as AA in most instances...I guess I'm like a 2nd generation full blooded russian passing as white american in a way :lolbron:

Good bye Coli(2014-2020)
That's how I felt when that berber ass nikka, French Montana was walking out to "nikka I ain't worried about nothin" live on PPV at the MGM. The announcers stayed mad quiet. Tried real hard to focus on AB but he was mouthing the words and harlem shaking too.

At this point I don't even flinch when I hear these african dudes chinese gfs say nikka, it annoys me, but just like the africans I have a :beli: look. Ive come to the realization this new generation just use the word so much and without a filter that its become contagious. Back in my day we kept that shyt tight, in the barbershop, among each other, and hide the word around 'others'. It was an inside thing, now you got these fools at the grocery store yelling it at the top of their lungs at a trader joes. What is the fukking point? You at trader joes, aint no nikkas in there. :what:
Hell I be seeing this Jewish Turkish girl from my HS who every one use to pick on and say was ugly spamming "nikka" on FB like she hood. I agree sh*t is annoying. And it is contagious. Sometimes I wish the word "nikka" was never invented because so many non-AA's keep using it and jacking our culture. Only use the word when insulting someone.

Jacking our culture?

No one is jacking anything. Imitating yea, but jacking no. If white wash isn't seen as bad, then why should black wash be?

I just have an issue with the word being over used like bro and dude. Nothing more nothing less. It would be like a brit hearing americans say mate all of a sudden and then hearing them say it all the damn time, every other word. it gets annoying.
