Is it wrong to say people don't care about 9/11 anymore?

I'm 38. I was 17 on that day. I still remember it vividly.

But there is a generation of adults and teens who weren't even alive when it happened they don't see it the same way as us and those that were older during that time I can remember that chain of events on that day.

I've seen them make jokes and memes and art pieces about it and it's just weird to see how they're so disconnected from what we experienced on that day that it makes me realize they don't and won't see it the same way.
:yeshrug:

I don't even mean this to be disrespectful to anybody. Especially considering all the families of those that lost loved ones on that day and considering there's still people suffering injuries from inhaling dust and smoke at ground zero.

But yo...the atmosphere now during this day is different than it was 15 years ago. Or 10 years ago. Or 5 years ago.

It is what it is. Time has passed. 21 years is a long time.

I say I don’t care until I see a video of it then I’m brought back to 2001. shyt changed me.

I can’t imagine what Twitter and shyt would have been like when that happened. Probably would have made things 1000x worse.

But yeah, I think majority of America is over it.

Like the grenfel tower I. London ..there was a black family on Facebook live and you see the smoke and fire at the front door :mjcry:

People would've been on LIVE talm bout how they're on the 91st floor and are trapped and hot and can't breathe from smoke.

I know they'd never understand, I was in High School and we were watching the news at the time and saw the second plane hit in real time and it was insane but the worst part was out of nowhere we heard a jet flying low and everyone just completely panicked in the building screaming echoing in the hallways and kids ran out of the building then we found out that sound was from United Flight 93 when it was making the turn around:wow:

If you ain't lived through it, then it ain't gonna hit the same

Definitely hits different depending your age at the time it happened.
I was in high school. That day crushed me and the subsequent videos document the horrors of that day break my heart still.
Of course the kids today won’t have anything close to a connection like that and I get it.
Seeing “Happy 9/11” on social media pisses me off to no end.

You lived in Northeast Ohio? I grew up in Akron and I was 3 when 9/11 happened. I was surprised to look at the flight details of United 93 when I got older and saw it making that u-turn in Cleveland.

Covid is my generation's closest equivalent to 9/11 (no disrespect ofc). 9/11 itself is seen as a sad but distant historical event, unfortunately.

The year 3030
younger folks have zero connection to it, other than it's probably taught in US history class.

I was also in HS and remember that day like yesterday. shyt was surreal.

when I went to NYC for the first time a few years back, I visited the memorial...pretty sombering experience..saw folks tear up

the only thing that was kinda weird was having a gift shop
