Is it wrong to say people don't care about 9/11 anymore?

People were making jokes/memes about it back then, and it was even worse because that was the peak of edgy humor so everyone was going ham
I still don't even like seeing jokes or memes about 9/11 because I had a cousin who worked on the 81st floor of tower two and luckily she didn't make it to work that day...
It's still a big deal in NYC, they show the readings of the names of the victims on all the local channels here.

I turned from it, hard to watch cause it's depressing.
I still find it very hard to watch that as well I turn away from it too.

People 25 and under have no connection to it.

I’m 25 and still remember that day

I just had no grasp of the situation, I knew something was going on, just didn’t know how serious it actually was.

All I remember was playing with my Hot Wheels while the towers were burning

I distinctly remember about 10 years ago at my first job I was 21 asking people who were only 15-16 about 9/11 and this bytch really drew a blank about it. I said something along the lines of “ oh yeah that day? There wasn’t nothing going on” I think one other dude was like yeah it’s 9/11 the day the twin towers exploded and she was literally like oh yeah I forgot shocked and embarrassed.

Then like in 2014 I was talking to one of my boys whose only 5 years younger than me told me he remembers it but it’s one of his first memories. At that moment I just assumed millennials were the last to be old enough to actually remember that day.

People over 25 have connection to it.

Why do young dudes set the standard on what's relevant today and whats not?
Not the same connection and the young don't set the standard of relevance regarding history.

For instance, I remember the oil embargo and how long the lines for gas were. The majority of posters on here can't comprehend what it was actually like.
