However, the exclusive is for one week. Tidal "banked" because it isn't working for Prince, to gain subscribers.

Well that shows these labels still don't have anyone creative around them. Like I posted, albums should be given to Tidal, and songs to other services. This way everyone could eat. You can go even further, and have each service get exclusive songs. It would be like bsides that used to be on 12 inches. As far as prince gaining subscribers, I don't know if its true or not, but I do know Tidal subscriptions are slowly increasing, not decreasing or at a stand still. So, to me that sounds like they are winning.

But I doubt they are complaining about the money because its not about a quick flip, its about slow dough. So far no one has come out with at least 16 bit files for streaming, so that gives Tidal the head title. If it stays like this, they will have consistent flow of money. Getting subscribers in large numbers only is important for services that require ad revenue to stay afloat. I think Tidal is doing alright. Then you add on future promotion where Tidal subscription will come for free with certain phones. There is so many ways you can slowly get subscribers. As long as no one else is in your lane, you can take time, as long as you don't spend more then whats coming in.

This article helps prove my point:
How Rihanna ‘ANTI’ Downloads Could Double Tidal’s Subscriber Base

"Rihanna's new record has been online for less than a day, but it is already a huge success. "ANTI," the Barbadian megastar’s eighth album, has been streamed nearly 14 million times in the 14 hours that have passed since its surprise Wednesday night release, according to Tidal. Most crucially, it's also been downloaded more than 1 million times by fans using a discount code provided by Samsung."

Tidal doesn't have time. Leasing millions of songs isn't cheap. Spotify just made its first profit a couple of years ago. It costs money to operate. Expenses like servers, salaries, marketing, etc. 3 or 4 CEOs resigned within a year. They need funding which hasn't been a priority or has been done quietly. I doubt that since announce any gold star they get. Tidal done a con to inflate their subscriber figures by charging people who quit after their trial, apologized, reimburse them and give them 3 months free. No what happens, they'll be counted when they try to get funded. You're being optimistic. Not enough fans are going to pay $9.99 or $19.99 per month for an artist or album. Tidal is the only streaming service that has Prince's music but I doubt millions of people are going to flock to Tidal because of it.

Chris Martin of Coldplay, a part-owner of Tidal, had to put his music on Spotify because he wasn't making money with it exclusively on Tidal. You're not understanding the consumers of today.

Nah, they are doing alright. Most businesses don't see a return on their investment until around 2-5 years. Tidal has time.

As far as Chris Martin, he's an Artist, not an executive, so of course he did that. You know this is expected because I didn't hear a dispute from Tidal about him doing that. Part owner doesn't mean you have a major stake in the company. When they say part owner, they mean like someone owning a stock. You may own a piece of the company, but unless you have a major share in the company, you aren't going to make that much or have as much power as someone who does. All the artist who are part owners, are basically stock holders.

Even before Tidal Jay Z had a pattern of sabotaging his artists or snatching their shine away by putting a solo Jay Z song on their album.
Bullshyt. That was a stimulus pack. Nobody was really checking for a bleek album. I want to know who did he hold back. The young gunz ? That dropped a sophmore album so wack that it made neef resort back to selling eighths of loud in north philly :mjlol: Or Beans who in 2007 had a shot and dropped the pollution with that horrible album cover and wannabe scarface renditions. It had a few joints that were nice but you cant put that on jay. The only one I give you is freeway with the free at last album. That joint was a boderline classic for me. Fif pointed the finger at jay for not dropping the roc billionaire video but why didnt he do a video for take it to the top:jbhmm:So again who did jay z stop from shining:stopitslime: Dont even say dmx who was already washed up or method man during his def jam run or LL who constantly dropped weak joints even though exit 13 had some heat on it

Yea but how do we know what he paid her already? She may have been paid enough to make and release the album exclusively on Tidal without even worrying about sales.

And I know the popular narrative on here is that Jay is a scumbag, but he's really not at all when it comes to his artists. He let's them keep their masters, gives them almost complete creative control, they're all eating. Dude's making sure his people are taken care of. And he still reaches out and looks out for his past artists too. State Prop dudes can reach out to Jay at any time and make some money, and they do. Jay's a way better dude than he gets credit for.
