Right hand is big out here, so maybe I have a skewed view of that song, but it's on the radio twice an hour and gets play at parties

That's why I said iyrtity as a whole, that tape did numbers to be full of throwaways.

Secondly, I didn't say the festival sold out because of him, the whole fukking crowd stuck around and got bigger because of him. What songs from TPAB are single/radio friendly? That album wasn't sonically accessible in the current climate as far as being radio/club fare. I'm not going to keep speaking in hypotheticals since Kendrick hasn't done a big arena tour, but you're tripping if you think he can't get 15-18k people at his shows.
Cole songs weren't radio friendly either

Kendrick not headlining a major tour is pretty unprecedented in music if you are placing him in the top tier of popularity in Hiphop

Also why wouldn't the labels back an arena tour if they believe it would be profitable

I'm almost will to concede that Kendrick is hugely popular on the west and it inflates his numbers and influence. Almost

People here care about Cole a lot. Drake is in another atmosphere.

Drake will always be the most popular as long as he's got songs that reach people and then he'll probably start fading himself out.

he knows how to move, everything is generally done on his terms and he doesn't overexpose himself to the point the general public are sick of him..it helps he's in on the joke and is goofy in a way that is likeable enough for the public.

its he's able to go from music to things like SNL to being all over All Star Weekend pretty much with ease.
you really need to be a hip-hop fan to how see polarizing he can be with certain crowds.

himself along with Cole and Kendrick are pretty much laying out the own blueprint for the next gen in their own terms.
the all round entertainer, the grassroots and the artist.
Kendrick doesn't understand how his lack of enunciation affects his music.

Had TPAB not sounded like a Kamasi Washington/Terrace Martin experiment, a lot of his songs would have fallen flat.

Dude just seems averse to making shyt he wants people to repeat back

I honestly feel like he raps like that to cover up the fact that he doesn't know how to be a better writer.

no but lets not act like Kdot winning these means hes bigger.

its politics that were played that involved him winning these.

plus just recently they showed how many times Drake got streamed and the numbers launched him to #1 overall among artist or at least top 3 I think.
Thank you! Someone else who can observe the game for what it is.

I love what Kendrick stands for as a man but musically he's ehh. I guarantee most of his "voters" probably listened to his album once. The only memorable track is Alright which happens to be a single.

apparently and no role modelz are pretty made for radio/singing out loud in the club. they're not typical party tracks, but they work. and when has it ever been par for the course for rappers to do arena tours? hell, even jay, snoop. dre had to have all star studded lineups to first do arena tours. kendrick not having done an arena tour means nothing until he does one and fails. and my social circle is all over this country, kendrick and drake >>> cole in terms of popularity with them.

J Cole is the result of payola.

You can't tell me otherwise.

Like 2/3rds of his singles were PUSHED onto the masses. Its not even fair to say otherwise.

Crooked Smile?
Party Remix?
Who Dat?
Work Out?
G.O.M.D?
No Sleep?

Does he have good songs? Definitely. But his hype, fame, and perceived stature don't add up. Dude is a facade man. :snoop:

Festivals sell out regardless of the performer. This has been well documented.

No one would the popularity y'all claim Kendrick has released flop single after flop single and doesn't headline a huge rap tour

Right hand did nothing

Hotline bling was dope no one would call that trash

Energy and Know yourself are the only thing that became hits from IYRTITL

Never seen hate for those songs anywhere
10 Bands too.

For starters, I'm a fan of both :banderas:

That said, Kendrick is at the peak of just music right now, performing last night at the Grammy's....the "main" Music awards show :lawd:

Meanwhile Drake on the other hand was just the "host" of the NBA All-Star Weekend in Toronto. He has transcended just being famous for music :yeshrug:
