Maybe the most underrated athlete ever...

Just a few years ago, I mentioned Larry and the HOF. My boy was like nah Will. I went to wiki and started off them stats.

He was like damn, I didnt even know.

Not flashy, not outspoken, etc, etc

At no time in his career has he been the best WR in the league.

He is Art Monk 2.0.

He isnt in the same class as the big 3 WRs, in Rice, TO, and Moss.

I honestly find it hard to put him on the Calvin Johnson, Tim Brown, Mike Irvin, and Andre Reed 2nd tier.

He is 3rd tier Chad Johnson, hines ward, chris carter, donald driver, anquan boldin steve smith level. Imho.

He has.longivity stats, not elite year in year out stats and that was all by choice.

When you start saying shyt like this about a guy that has four years over 1400 yards receiving you know you've gone off the hot take deep end. :russ:

How many of those years was he the unquestioned best WR in the league?

Thats my point. It isnt a hot take, and I do believe he should be in the HoF, I just dint think he is anywhere close to ever veing mentioned among the Mt. Rushmore of WRs.

No he will be a 1st ballot HOF. Once it's all said and done he will be 4th or 5th all time when it comes to receivers.

I dunno maybe one of those 1400 yard years when he took the Cardinals to the superbowl, dominated every game in their 4 game playoff run going for over 100 yards and a TD in every game, including the Superbowl? :ohhh:

Larry isn't "under"rated, people rightfully give him respect as an All-Timer. Like, literally all the fukking time, and have been for years...

He's only "under"rated if you think he belongs in the same class as TO and Moss and Rice----->he doesn't. There are levels of greatness and he's obviously one of the best receivers ever, but hes rated properly. Somewhere in the class of receivers below those three, the holy trinity of receiving...

This is the class of elite receivers Fitz has played against in his 16-year career (no order):

Moss, Owens, Harrison, Chad Johnson, ****, Smith, Andre Johnson, Wayne, Calvin Johnson, Brown, Jones, Hopkins, Thomas...

So you guys need to tell me where Fitz falls in this pack, because you can make the argument that each and every one of those receivers are as good or better than Fitz. And for Moss and TO, probably shouldn't be in a reasonable convo with Fitz...

He's overrated because people want him to be mentioned with Moss and Owens yet when you start lining him up against other greats that played in his time, Fitz isnt exactly standing head and shoulders above the rest, is he?

Elite possessions receiver, chain mover, hands. If you need a first down on a 3 and 12, sure. He is just not a head turner. Calvin Johnson, Julio Jonez, Moss, T.O always made you say wtf? But it depends on what you want.

You mean 2008.

He was better than Andre Johnson in 2008? Calvin Johnson?

The thing is while he seemingly had no weaknesses, a)he isn't the only guy of his eras that can be said about, b)there are guys who had a weakness or flaw who were clearly better, and c)Fitz was rarely every a high level difference maker...

His '08 playoff run is a GOAT-level WR playoffs, no doubt about it. Besides that, you look at his career year over year, sure he played with mostly bum quarterbacks, but he ain't the only guy that can be said of...

And he consistently was putting up numbers on teams that couldn't even contend for the playoffs. His career catch percentage isn't tremendously high which means a combination of thing, one being he wasn't contesting balls he couldn't make clean catches on since he doesn't have a lot of drops...
